https://www.valueaddedresource.net/e...uthentication/

A link I found regarding this. For those that don't want to sit through a video.

High level from that article
Ungraded Trading Cards
Single, ungraded cards at $250 or above will still go through the previous authentication process with CGC or CSG (Certified Collectibles Group).

Graded Cards
Single, graded cards $2,000+ will be authenticated by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator).

So PSA will not be checking the authenticity of graded cards, only the slab.

“The PSA authenticator will check the sealed plastic holder for signs of tampering before verifying that the case and label are authentic to the grader. The label is also checked against the listing details. Cards are not regraded.”

“Our authenticators verify that the raw card or sealed plastic holder is authentic to ensure you receive exactly what you ordered.”

I thought everyone was talking about CSG getting all authentication from eBay?

No buyer returns on cards that PSA inspects, I love it! All my listing return policies were updated by eBay with the following verbiage, "This item is final sale and cannot be returned"

Does it say anything regarding cards over the $5,000 insurance threshold (basically you have to ship outside of the eBay shipping system if you want to fully insure an item over $5K as that is the USPS limit and they do not give insurance options for UPS or FedUp)? Sorry, I am too lazy to read through these updates

This is terrible. What in the hell is eBay doing?
I noticed those badges popping up this morning about the authentication when I was searching Jordan Star rookies.
Why would I trust PSA's opinion on Star basketball when they are too incompetent to grade Star?

They’re not authenticating the card. Just the slab. So PSA or CSG will be authenticating BGS slabs. It’s brilliant.

Does anyone know if in order to have the authenticity guarantee the seller has to have some kind of confirmation from PSA through eBay? Or is there just a box to check that anyone can say they went through the process?

You ship your card straight to PSA after the winner buys. eBay will autofill in the buyers shipping address to an address at PSA

What if it’s a altered or trimmed card ?
Will those now be ‘authentic’ ?
Psa just being psa.
Nothing shady at all.

Default PSA

So, 2 years from now will everyone be wondering why the Ebay cards that were sent to PSA haven't been authenticated yet?

Someone is paying for this in the future. Another fee to add.
