Ebay Gift cards cant be used to buy trading cards?

A friend sold me a ebay gift card. Everything looks perfect. The balance its full $200.
I then grabbed a Detroit Tigers card for $1 and entered the code at checkout. Everything perfect. Lastly i hit the confirm and pay button but the transaction never ended.
A red message appeared on top of the page and says: "Please check your payment details or use a different payment option"

I tried 3 times. All 3 times the same message.

I contacted an agent and she was confused. At the end she told me: "the reason why you can't purchase the item using gift card was because the item was under the categories "trading cards"

Is this true? I cant use the ebay gift card to buy baseball cards?
Wtf... Trading cards are not coins, paper money or things like that.

I have used gift cards to buy baseball cards in the past. It's been a couple of years though.

I used an eBay gift card for a card last month and have numerous times over the last year.

I think the seller does not ship to PR
go to the listing and see if PR is excluded.

Not true, I use slide to buy giftcards for every eBay purchase.

You are right. The seller doesnt ship to PR.
I added my friend address in massachusetts but still doesnt allow me to pay using the gift card.

strange that you still can not use the gift card using the Massachusetts address.
