Dipping my toe in to consignment, curious to hear what strategies others employ when deciding what to send in.
So far I've been staggering my shipments to get a variety of auction end dates/times and mainly sending in unnumbered PSA 10s (flagship, chrome, megas, etc) along with a few SPs & serial numbered. Mostly in the $50-$200 range. I don't know that I have the stomach to send in any of my $1000+ cards and let it ride. |

IMO, if you're dipping your toes, there's nothing wrong with sending in the stuff you're less worried about. As you sell stuff and get paid, maybe you will become more comfortable and maybe you will raise your comfort level.
My general rule for any deal is that if it worrying about it would cause you to lose one minute of sleep, don't do it. Maybe you examine what you are worrying about, and change those criterion. There are market opportunities which exist when you are willing to take risks that others are not. However, if those risks are causing you to lose sleep, then the cost might not be worth the benefit. |

Are there types of cards that seem to do better than others at auction?
My initial hypothesis was that base PSA 10s had a pretty steady price/market so there wouldn't be a huge swing in what my take would be. That seems to be wrong from my first 40 or so sales. Maybe the lack of scarcity means people following auctions of them are only looking for steals? |

Auctions are the only way to know something will sell within a reasonably short period. You can typically do better than auction by waiting for BIN, yeah. You can also do worse because you're exposed to the underlying performance of the asset during that period. It all depends on what your play is. I personally think that cards are fundamentally worth what they sell for at auction; liquidity matters with everything.
