Default What happens if Mike Trout wins a 4th MVP?

Just going through MLB stats today, and Trout is almost leading all major categories in the AL (Ward 1st in a few).

He's already the best generational talent of this century (possibly Pujols?), if he wins a 4th MVP before he turns 31 . . . Where does this put him all time?

Let's wait and see if he can make it 140 games this year.

I thinks it’s hard to place him all-time, even with the potential of a 4th MVP. If he wins it, and the Angels have a deep meaningful playoff run a few times the remainder of his time there, I think he will solidify his place as an ATG. Key stats will accumulate as he stays healthy as well. He’s the closest thing we have to an upper echelon type of player… Miggy is the last and I consider Pujols but he has limped into his key career numbers more than ran through them (still a legend). Trout will always be looked down on by many people who just don’t know baseball and it’s history - that’s just a fact. Time will tell where he actually finishes but if he gets above 100 WAR, 500+ HR and finishes string he will be a top 10 all-time player.

I think a World Series appearance would do more for his legacy and card prices than another MVP.

He has 3... and he's finished runner up 4 times! Means he's losing coin flips.

Makes him the worst player to ever win 4 mvp's with some of the worst mvp seasons of all time.

29 hrs 100 rbi .315 and a 74-88 season is not an MVP.

Complete joke.

Miggy's triple crown season, 7 WAR
Trout 10.5 WAR that season

33% more impact to his team wins based on analytics.

But Miggy's team had better players, went to the playoffs, Trout did not.

Well, if this year is anything like last year, leading the league in nearly all hitting stats doesn't mean jack as long as Ohtani pitches and hits...

For me, when guys in baseball who's team is around .500 and wins an MVP or in the discussion. It reminds me of A-Rod when he was with Texas and what he said. There would be games where it was a blowout and pitchers would serve him some easy balls to hit HR or get his average up.

Also if he gets in the low 100s WAR and 500 HR then he is an A-Rod (not a bad thing) caliber player minus the roids. I think (for me) he would need to get 130+ WAR (crack the top 10) and hopefully get a ring to be the Babe Ruth of our generation or the Babe Ruth of modern day baseball.

Nope... he should not have won it in 2019, and I can't see any other season where he should have and didn't. He SHOULD have 2 MVPs.

If he leads in nearly every stat and Ohtani hits .257 again, Ohtani won't win.

Fine with me- if that’s what it takes to make it to the World Series…… let Ohtani win MVP for the Season, and Trout win World Series MVP. Now, doesn’t that have a nice ring (get it? ) to it?

The answer to the question originally proposed is the anti Trout arguments will get more and more absurd.

Bregman had more WAR and lost a coin flip, boo hoo. Trout's done that 4 times is my point. He wins 2 of those coin flips, he has 5 mvps....

That should not have been a coin flip - you miss 20% of your teams games - IN SEPTEMBER? You're not there when the team needs you most, that alone should automatically disqualify you from winning MVP.

And there are not 4 seasons that he should have won MVP and lost in a coin flip. He was clearly the second (or third) best player in each of those seasons.

And, to be clear, I LOVE Mike Trout - I think he's an all-time talent.

Having an average season and your team finishing 2nd last in the division is not an MVP.

I don't care how you spin WAR and analytics.

He should not even be on the ballot.
