Default Steph Curry 2009 Panini Rookie

I’m looking to buy a lower end Steph Curry rookie for my PC and I was wondering
why there are multiple 2009 panini steph curry rookie cards ? #307 and #357 and the other in his college uniform ? What one is considered the true rookie in this set? Thanks

I’d rather have this proof /199. Although an SGC 8.5 sold for $356 on April 30th, people have their raw cards marked up 500%+ I can’t stand eBay sellers sometimes. But if you’re patient and wait for an auction you’ll do fine. You might not like these inserts, was just a suggestion as an alternative to an assumingely high pop base card. It also doesn’t have the RC shield which can be a turnoff for some.

I feel like 2009 was a bad year for rookie cards. Lot of them in college jerseys. Panini set looks boring. Even his topps rookie is just him smiling in his Davidson shooting shirt. My personal favorite base rookie is the studio, though I don’t like horizontal cards either. Really not much to choose from in 2009 unless more higher end

Panini is dumb.

Having said that, #307 is the way to go. 1st flagship set, relatively limited print run. Condition sensitive given many were tossed around as these were worthless.

#307 has a pop < 300 and it will likely stay < 400. Moved a #307 10 for near $1K which in 3-5 years might look like a steal as I get mid 80s fleer vibes from this set (no gloss, rough condition, iconic player)

Agree with this. Also didn’t realize the print run was so low on those. Good info.

Why is 307 the way to go over 357? Genuinely curious. This is the period where I had stopped collecting so I’m out of the loop..

I’ve been eyeing these two cards recently too.

After the Topps (and Bowman), is Panini probably the next “best” base Curry rookie? I scooped a couple Upper Deck, which I like but wish he was in a GS uni. Bought those for my sons, they’ll try to get them signed next season

This doesn’t answer your question about the different numbers and maybe not what you’re after since it’s an insert, but Star Gazing is one of the better-looking (and relatively affordable) rookie year Curry cards imo.

I don’t have any Curry cards but plan to buy the Bowman (nicer than Topps to me) and that one eventually.

For me, if there are two cards in the same set and one is trying to differentiate which is the best, I think history has shown that the first card in the set is usually the better card (lower numbered card in the set). Otherwise you could say they are even.

Yes -- thank you. His Skyline Artist Proof RC is underrated and relatively underpriced. I finally got around to buying one a few months back -- a PSA 9.

There are a ton of his Upper Deck RC cards on eBay at similar prices and a card like his Skyline rainbow foil card, numbered to only 199, seemingly gets ignored.

Although buyer beware -- multiple of the graded versions are trimmed. The cards generally had corner and edge wear, so it's unlikely any true gem mints exist.

He does have a few nice looking rookie cards, but I agree that a lot of them are bland or fugly.

Gotcha - that’s what I was thinking but wasn’t 100% sure (first numbered card in the set)

Thanks for the reply

Anybody know what the glossy version of the 2009 Panini 307 is all about? Can’t find any info online, outside of a couple copies available on eBay

Edit: so it looks like you got 9 glossy per hobby box apparently. So essentially I guess it’s kinda like a parallel?

I have the #357 PSA 10 and it's gorgeous! Getting it re-holdered now at the National! Keeper for sure!

Yes it’s a parallel and there’s a serial numbered artist proof too

Thank you, yeah Im familiar with the Artist Proof. I did end up scoopin up the glossy since I got a decent deal on it.

There really isnt too many options for 2009, though, like folks have stated.

I like the Studio Proof /199 but obviously not too many out there

I ended up just scooping a base Studio, glossy Panini 307 and an Upper Deck 234 for my kids to get signed next season
