Default 2022 NBA Draft Lottery

The 2022 NBA Draft Lottery takes place tonight at 8pm EST / 5pm PST.

Here's a table with the odds of landing in top 4, and for 1st overall.

HOU, ORL, DET all have an equal chance of landing in top 4 and #1 overall with 52.1% and 14.0%, respectively. OKC actually has the best overall odds though, because they have 48.1% / 12.5% from their own pick from having the 4th worst record, plus another 7.1% / 1.5% from the LAC pick from the Paul George trade. The LAL pick goes to NOP, unless it lands at 11 or 12, in which case it goes to MEM.

Personally, I'm rooting for OKC to land a top 3 pick so they can add a decent big to their solid perimeter core. Bonus points if they can draft Chet and roll him out with Poku for pure comedy. Maybe pick up Bol Bol to run point.

Here's hoping for Detroit at 1 or 2. I have to admit this isn't as exciting as it use to be. Prospects are such unknowns now. Freshman or foreign guys that all need time to develop. I don't want as much college ball as I did in the past, so I haven't seen much of the top guys. What I did see from the tournament, Banchero would be the guy I would like to see the Pistons get.

I really don't want the Holmgren, I just think he has bust written all over him even though he seems skilled for his size. Is he another Porzingis. Flashes of being pretty good, but ultimately too weak to rebound for his size and too slow on the parameter. Just a really tall jump shooter.

It's like Christmas eve except you have to wait a month for Christmas morning.

This is where they do the ping pong balls in front of a live audience so everyone can see right? Not the behind closed doors thing that a shady company would do?

The craziest realistic scenario I can think of is the Pels getting a Top 4 pick with that team.

Nothing too crazy. Bottom half all went chalk, then SAC jumped up from 7 to 4, just enough to give them a glimmer of hope and then still land outside the top talent tier. Only loser was Detroit falling outside the top 4 to 5.

I wonder who Orlando takes. Already having Mo Bamba, Wendell Carter, both Wagners, and Isaac if he ever plays again, they still need perimeter talent, so I could see them taking Jabari. Them drafting Chet to join that already crowded front court (they also have Bol Bol, RoLo, and Okeke) would be more in line with their history though. I’m sure OKC and HOU will be glad with whoever lands in their laps and not have the pressure of being the one to screw up the #1 pick

Let's go Magic! Best week in a long time (maybe ever?) to be an Orlando and Dallas fan!

Hope they trade #1 and #32 to OKC for #2 and #12 and pick up Jaden Ivey.

Huge thud for the Pistons.

A lot of talk this year about what teaming another #1 pick with Cade would have looked like.

I could see the Hawks trade up for Ivey/Sharpe

Was thirsty for that Daddy Chetneck/Z pairing. But kind of relieved he fell out of NO's graces.

Low key interested to see if Houston can be somewhat competitive next year.

SAC can land Shaedon Sharpe. He's either going to be a bust or a superstar.

As a Magic fan, I guarantee they will blow the pick. Their drafting is not good

As a Magic fan, I didn't expect them to get #1 and had already bet on Banchero going first.
They'll probably take Chet to team up with Suggs, which will be fun for them but probably not so much for the fans......

Yeah I’d be worried about Chet. His frame just screams injuries. Wonder what he will look as he ages.

I'd be happy to take Domantas Sabonis on my team...

Don’t forget Stockton.

I love the “when has X school produced” crap.

Should we go stake out Lower Merion and Vincent-St. Mary

Are we counting the Person brothers or Okoro for Auburn? Or are we going back to Barkley for the last time an Auburn player made an impact?

So I guess that eliminates one more #1 overall candiate

Paolo it is

Early on I watched him play Duke and saw Paolo eat him alive.

As the season went on Chet got stronger despite not necessarily showing it on his frame. In the tourney he played through contact and stayed pretty strong.

I'd be less concerned that he ends up another Porzingis. I think Chet has a much better overall skillset than Porzingis also so I would put his ceiling quite a bit higher. But I'm also not saying he's the next KD (as some have compared him to).

I don't think you can go wrong with the top 3 here. All three have instant impact ability. Chet has the highest ceiling (and it kills me to say that as a Duke fan) with superstar potential. Paolo is probably the safest bet and most NBA ready perennial all-start caliber player. I think Jabari has the highest floor of the 3 and is the most likely to be a superstar.

Kinda funny how people here have such contrasting views of Chet than on nba subreddit.

I feel Chet will be a bust for #1 overall pick. He may be okay, but he wasn't even the best Gonzaga player.

I think they've done well the past few years with first round picks. Wagner, Okeke, Anthony were all great value picks. Suggs is still a question mark - rough rookie season but looked injured most of it. Bamba was a bit a bust but I like that the swung for it (hopefully they learn from this pick this year). JI showed flashes but just can't stay healthy (hopefully they learn from this).

Ideally, they'd trade 1+32 to OKC for 2+12 and can pick up Jabari+SG(Sharpe if he falls). Or they trade with Houston for #3 and pick up Ivey (Ivey is the best fit/player if they know JI is back to 100%).

If they stay at #1 - I like the Fultz + Jabari + Wagner + WCJ line up. Would love a SG who can consistently hit a 3 with that squad - so far that's not Fultz or Suggs - but wouldn't be hard to find a guy in free agency.
