How do you know they're doubling the print run? Are you extrapolating from the number of parallels?

yes - 95% increase in parallel volume. Barring a significant jump in color it's at least a doubling of volume (increase in color would be somewhat odd as it's already fairly consistent with other product insertion rates). They kept refractor and speckle odds consistent.

Well, this can be a nice cheap rip again. Last years wasn't the worst product in the world. It briefly had its hype with Pepi and Clark and then fizzled out.

Interestingly, I just saw this posted on FB today, regarding the Topps Chrome UEFA print runs for the past few years...I'd guess that MLS is a much lower print run, but that's just a guess...

Been away from busting wax for a bit so I missed 2021 but just preordered a case and hoping it’ll be fun. I did like 10 cases of the 2014 Chrome blasters back in the day (so fun!) when it hit major clearance.

Should be a fun rip. $1k isn’t terrible but it’s too much for MLS imo

I imagine MLS Chrome will hit $600 a case soon. (So $50 a box), probably should be in the $30 per box range |

![]() The base set could definitely look better but I'm cautiously optimistic about how it will transfer to chrome and for the auto set. Between new MLS transfers like Alan Velasco and Thiago Almada, true RCs like Talles Magno, guys who haven't had autos yet like Taty, Jesus Ferreira, Zelerayan, Reynoso and Paxten Aaronsen, and second year autos of Pepi and Slonina, there's a lot of potential for the MLS fan. Hopefully Topps is done with their Julian Gressel and Diego Chara sticker dumps. As somebody who has collected MLS since the original Upper Deck Bandai 1997 set, it's still wild to me that the 2021 set got traction with some non-MLS and non-soccer fans. I doubt that happens again this year . Looking forward to getting a case at release and having a blast ripping. Even if I were to sell everything, I'm definitely not expecting to recoup anywhere near the buy-in cost. And if it drops a bunch, I'll definitely look to scoop up more. |

I like the design. I think it's different enough without being too artsy/8th grade graphic design. ONLY exception is the rolling marquee like graphic of the position. Senseless.
I'm more interested on how much/if the color pops. Just bring me back to full flood colors of 18-19. MLS is fun for me so BIGGEST thing is this becoming more reasonably priced otherwise I'll just wait for those $300 flagship cases. ha ha ha. |

OTOH, lots of MLS collectors prefer to collect specific teams, so they'll be excited as long as there are cards of their team's players. Frankly, my issue is this: what's the point of collecting the paper set AND the chrome set? And then if they produce Sapphire or whatever else, of basically the same set, what's the point? I can understand it from Topps' perspective, as they want to sell as much as possible, but who wants the paper card of Reed Baker-Whiting if they can get the chrome? |

A lot will depend on the final checklist but for example, last year's paper set didn't include Paxten but he was added to the chrome versions since the team cards in the paper set didn't make it into chrome, which hopefully remains the same this year. it would be awesome to see somebody like Obed Vargas get included depending on when the checklist was put together and the cards actually printed. |

Sapphire is shiny and has this modern reputation as the go to… but personally I prefer the regular release for cracking. Sapphire is a glorified parallel in a different box. I’ll dabble but I don’t sweat missing these. |

I haven't paid much attention for a while, but people are still paying over $3000 for non-RC Pepi cards (2021)??
Wow. |

Checklist added. 3000 cases of MLS goodness that like 30 of us asked for. I’ll bet I can buy a box for <$60 within 3 weeks. A few new names replacing the team cards from flagship. |

Not a single insert, sp, or auto of a Charlotte FC player on the list. How does an entire team get left out of everything except base? I guess my wallet appreciates this but damn was looking forward to chasing cards. Guess it’ll just be parallels for me.

Blaster pack odds half (double?) of what they were last year (more or less).
Last season's blasters were getting a couple #'d per blaster here we are at 1 here including inserts if they hold up. So looking at a LIKELY doubling of blaster volume (20k to 40k) pending some adjustment to the split between hobby/retail. Same parallels available, too, so... ... Also means HOBBY probably >3000 cases because the "new" parallels would be in hobby so they can spread that volume around just there and could potentially triple the case volume from last year and have the same number of "hits" (#'d) per box. I'm hoping when we get the hobby odds and see it all play out it won't be like that... but 4500 cases of MLS chrome? What a world! |

Yeah, print runs of sealed product are getting too high for me regarding many of these products. I'll be watching from the sidelines concerning those.
I want limited print, and I'm only going to buy what I want. |

As others have said, I'm in for this if it reaches a much lower price point as something fun to rip... but what's the appeal here if you're not a fan of the MLS? Checklist doesn't look too strong in terms of RCs but maybe I'm overlooking something.

There is barely appeal if you ARE a fan of MLS. There will be a lot of pain in these rips. Print run roughly doubled, rookie class has some good ones but not extremely deep.
Checklist is pretty uninspiring as an Atlanta fan. Robinson autos were in last year's products, no Josef autos, inclusion of a player that was loaned out in February in the base set, extremely light representation in the inserts. |
