Card Saver I vs II - What is better for submitting graded cards?

I typically use Card Saver I, but accidentally bought CSII instead, notably they are smaller. Any risk for damaging cards with these? Still okay to submit cards with them?

The people that deal with submissions and taking the cards out of Card Savers deal with Card Saver 1's the majority of time. Less chance of damage when they take them out. I would also not feel confident using Card Saver 2's because of the tighter squeeze. This can result in corner or edge damage. It could also cause a card to come back PSA N5 like a non-recessed screw down. If you send it to PSA in one of these Card Savers with a thicker card stock and it sits in the card saver for 8 months before they grade it, damage to the corners is a serious issue. I even cut the corners off CS 1's for anything remotely thick in these holders.

Curious, what does that look like and does it help how its stored? I recently moved all my PC to CS1 including patch cards for uniformity and this kind of has me worried now.

I would move the patch cards into magnetic holders instead.

I keep my grading pile for many months in CS1's. If a card feels real snug in them, I clip the bottom two corners to relieve any type of pressure. I would not put a patch card into a Card Saver 1. It won't take make pressure to pinch down on those corners to damage the card. I wouldn't even put a 70 pt thickness card into a CS 1 personally.

Card saver 2 are the standard for submissions. They are wider and offer more room to insert and pull out. I always use them for my subs and generally don’t reuse them if I can avoid it.

I think 2s are OK for grading mini cards, and maybe Yugioh. You don't want to have to jam a standard size card into there, though... you're just asking to turn them into PSA 5s.

I bought one package of 50 CS2’s, and after the struggle I went through to try to get a card in the first one, I threw them all out and bought 50 CS1’s.

Don't throw away CS2, they are great for inserting thin (Topps) cards without sleeves. I had 1990-91 Fleer cards that were in CS2, all the one that I submitted got PSA 10, or BGS 9.5, or 10.

If you know what you are doing, Card Saver IIs are fine.

I prefer them to a standard top loader for my PC.

I'd use Card Saver Is for submissions though for sure

Beckett, SGC, and PSA all recommend CS1's on their websites. CSG just says "semi rigids". The CCG store sells their own brand of semi rigids, but they are the same size as a CS1.
