Default Post Your Steals at the Show

I'm not in attendance this year. I always dumpster dive into bargain boxes for days on end.

What are your best finds?! Please post!

How about literally steals? LOL like that guy couple years back who stole a card out of a showcase then was dumb enough to try to sell it back to the guy he stole it from.

Found a ~$250 Kobe case hit in a $10 box--my best value box find ever. A LOT of $20 cards in $5 boxes / $5 cards in dollar boxes.

This was my first National and I'd say the value boxing was pretty great! Tons of value, lots of gradable stuff, good variety of eras. Shout out to all the dealers that brought fire!

Would've liked to see more ~$10-50 type boxes. Really wanted to load up on cards in that range for certain players (e.g. Josh Allen) and struggled to find anything.

Awesome! I went yesterday and going tomorrow. I didn’t really find a great $5 box though, if you remember the booth number or just where it was who was it? You can pm me if you want.

I mean pulling a Brock Lesnar auto out of 49 from a box of Panini Revolution definitely counts as a steal.

People do this so they can remember how much they paid for inventory purposes. It’s really not weird. I personally wouldn’t do it (since it’s not hard to bring a pen and paper) but I understand why people do it.

I think this is pretty normal to help people remember/track their exact spending on lots/cards.

its ridiculous and holds no merit for accting purposes.
if for personal, why would you post it on a site.

How does it have no merit for accounting purposes? If anything if you had to prove a cash transaction if you were being audited I suppose this would be the best support you could produce actually.

That being said. We know the odds of that happening is unlikely and it probably wasn’t quite literally for accounting purposes but rather for his own tracking purposes but I really don’t see what’s your problem here.

I spent around 3 hours at the table where everything was $3 yesterday. It is near Hit Parade if anyone is looking for it. I ended up spending $1000 at the table with great stuff for COMC. These are the best of the group.

These were the first batch of the best from that table. It's hard to tell but the Trout is a rainbow foil.

These also came from the $3 table.

These came from other tables and were in the $2-$10 range.

Finding decent value boxes was pretty tough because I didn't want to waste too much time at a table if I wasn't going to find anything decent since I was only there for 2 days. I did find better deals in game used bats and jerseys and picked up a 4 bats and a jersey. Memorabilia seemed to be better priced than cards at the show, in my opinion.

Not mad.

a picture proves nothing for accting. a person can spend 100 dollars and take a picture of 200 dollars.

if you want proof, ask for a receipt. not common in the industry but shouldn be an issue.

Great finds. Your post really gave me memories of the 2019 National.

Hoo boy. I just had a new and original idea that nobody has EVER had before. When I hand-write the receipt for this cash transaction at a show... I could write 200 when the deal was actually for 100... OMG... mind blown.

We all knew you could take a photo of more cash than was involved, but nobody has EVER thought of faking a receipt before. This is big news, people. The accounting world is about to change!!

This is awesome!

Even if it is Brian Serven, a 1/1 Bowman First for $3 is an incredible deal!

Want to see this. This could be one of the steals of the show right here.

I just heard about this new method called "mark to market" accounting. It's really going to be a game changer. Some company in Houston is giving it a shot.

Was he by the guy with all the funko items. I went there Thursday he had a whole box of Benchwarmer cards. His stuff was sneaky good and I found a ton of PC Giants and one of my favorite oddball pc cards
