From the influencer who told you to buy Kevin Durant PSA 10 Topps Chrome base rookies for $11,000, and that "Damian Lillard Prizm Can Only Go Up".. we give you "We've Hit Bottom".

I was starting to think that we've hit bottom or that we were kind of close.

Now I'm terrified we are nowhere close to it. Crap.

Simply put, if you're taking advice from someone who's been in the hobby two years, good luck.

How dare we insult Hannah?! She's worshipped in the F1 community and has a secret vault in California to house her precious F1 and soccer cards!!!

The sports cards MARKET hasn’t hit bottom yet, but the sports cards HOBBY certainly has.

I am curious (since I don't use social media), who have been the biggest influencers over the last few years—for better or for worst?

I know the Logan Paul kid is pretty infamous and that Drake has also had some publicized box breaks. Plus there's the VegasDave character.

Over 90,000 people @ The National (record attendance)......not sure after seeing this that anyone could consider hitting the bottom. That's crazy.

Some of the guys who used to post on here all the time and ran off the site are certainly among them, I'll leave it to the guys who are on IG to fill in those blanks as I don't use social media either. GaryV, is a real P.O.S. and of course you have the guys who were propping him up as good for the hobby. Geoff aka SCI, SportsCardInvestor sucks too. CardLadder guys are also influencers whether they want to admit to it or not.

That aside, you would be surprised at how much contention there is inside these private high-end circles. They love each other in public and hate each other behind closed doors. The whole thing is a ruse.

Off the top of my head:

Geoff from SCI
SashaT
CardCollector2 (Ryan)
Meelypops (yes, I know...)
Roth
Packman
Mojo

A bunch of others...

Yeah, it was bad enough when Topps was telling you what to collect.

Now, hundreds of influencers are telling you what to collect.

Have we all become so stoopid?

Shame on us.

OP loves this lady. Doesn't she work for PSA now?

Since this is like the 3rd or 4th time you've posted Hannah Montana / SheDoesn'tCollectCards vids allow me to repost someone else.

At least the "we" is mostly the newcomers from covid. You can't even really blame them half the time, it's all they've consumed.

It's sad, because if you want to grow the card collecting community is a sustainable fashion, you don't do it by playing a giant game of hot potato and advising people to buy stuff that they'll end up holding the bag on.

There IS a sustainable way to collect and be profitable (if that's your goal), but it takes patience, learning, and integrity. That last piece is lacking with a lot of these folks.

But I will say this: Many of these grifters have gotten what they wanted on of this hobby: Notoriety and money. It's just a shame that it had to come at the expense of the people who have listened to them.
