Lots of rumors on the future of breaking when Fanatics is fully in charge...anyone thoughts on this. Only going to be 12 'authorized' breakers?

Pretty sure a rumor like that coming true would destroy Fanatics. Waaaaay too many breakers currently

They can't really stop people from buying wax and breaking it. Whatever they are authorizing is just who they will direct distribute to. In that case, only having a dozen or so might be really good for the hobby, because those people will have the eyes of Fanatics on them and can't screw around.

Anyone can be a breaker. You don't need to be an exclusive breaker with fanatics to be a breaker.

You can even buy at full retail price and still profit as a breaker.

The only thing I worry about are hits being loaded in the cases of the exclusive breakers.

I can't see fanatics not loading cases for their breakers. There is so much room for corruption in this process.

Imagine, their flagship breaker being shady clowns that multiple people including professionals in other industries have called out as being unethical.

So let’s say it’s hypothetically 12 “authorized” breakers.

This could easily keep prices overinflated but funneling all the addicts to only twelve “authorized” sources to get their fix.

I don’t like breaking in general but something like that would worsen the issue of wax prices, not improve.

Yes, all the potential breaker candidates would be taking all the fanatics execs out to dinner and whining and dining and kissing their behinds just to secure one of those sacred 12 exclusive contracts. They would campaign to pay more for cases and I would imagine fanatics will grant the contracts to those top 12 entities that show they garner the most profits from the clients.

It will simply drive up case prices for everyone.

No room for corruption there.

Fanatics has been stupid enough to associate themselves with Backdoor breakers. Best to just avoid any of their breaking groups if those are the kinds of people they will work with.

no need to load boxes if they can just undercut every other breaker. why would you ever break with anyone outside of fanatics assuming they have unlimited supply and will always have cheapest prices

They wouldn't even have to really try. Anyone else looking to break will have to buy from fanatics and most certainly have a higher overall cost basis than the fanatics branded breakers. The idea that they can manufacture the cards, know what cases the best hits are in, and then have their own breakers is so corrupt. I await this all blowing up in the future.

I will preface this by saying that there is literally no chance of this happening, but what would stop Fanatic from just creating their own breaking group/page?
They are already trying to cut out all of the middlemen. This could actually be huge for them.

Except they pretty much can if they want to, unless your choice won't be based on cost.

Non licensed breakers won't really be able to go below X price and that X price for Fanatics will be much much lower.

Imagine if Layton is running Friday night singles breaks and Fanatics starts to run a Friday night singles for 10% below Layton's prices breaks.
