Default I don't understand Donruss Optic

Is it kind of like how Hyundai later released the Genesis?

I can best explain it like this....

If Prizm is Topps Chrome,

Mosaic is Topps Finest,

Optic is Bowman Chrome,

Which makes Select complete $hit.

It didn't always used to be like this, but now it is.

Kind of annoyed I have to chase all my Donruss non-elite hits in this Optic format again.

And apparently there's a Panini Contenders Optic too. It feels like my butthole is expanding as I digest this info.

Just wait til you open a box of Chronicles.

Seriously though. The idea that there is a flagship-esque product and a chrome version of it is perplexing to you?

The last solid Prizm release was 16/17. 15/16 was peak Prizm IMO. If someone told me, today, I could only chase one: Prizm or Optic…I’d pick Optic all day long. Mosaic and Select are another waste of money..IMO. They have ruined Spectra as well with thin stock!

The Black Velocity/39 makes it an easy choice. Other than gold /10 this is the best Panini parallel they have made.

Yup Prizm has been ugly since 2017-18

Think of Optic as Panini's version of Chrome.

Donruss => Donruss Optic

Contenders => Contenders Optic

Aesthetically, I like the Donruss release better than the Optic, must be the photo's they used for the Optic which is usually worse, for some reason.

The Genesis is a kickass car. And I think Optic is my favorite set.

Thank you. So basically Optic = glossier and more reflective, thus more prone to surface issues, but thicker card stock so less prone to corner & edge damage than non-Optic? But mainly shinier, especially under bright lights. And the autos are hard signed? That an accurate summation?

Donruss Optic is by far my favorite basketball card set. The Rated Rookie logo, lower pop, on card autos, and the inserts (my house, all heart, the rookies) make Optic superior to Prizm imo.

I like the Optic cards but for some reason my personal preference these days has been the prizms. I can't get enough of all the color variations. I'm sick!

Optic and Noir are the two releases I'm most excited about every year. I don't mind Prizm but they have a claustrophobic feel to them. With every passing year the boarders get more and more intrusive.

As long as we can all agree that they've turned Select into garbage

$600 for 21-22 Optic Hobby?! This stuff will be $400-$450 in a month or two once supply starts to come back.
