Default Dayton Moore has been fired!

What KC fans have been waiting for has finally happened, DM is out!

Lots of other names need to be nixed as well (Cal Eldered, L Turdberg, M Meth-any) for this team to have any real chance at competing.

A complete overhaul of how the team assesses, scouts and develops pitching, a tear down of the existing medical staff/facilities and a Real Deal ML Batting Coach would prbly help too

Now that Dayton is done, will the players go back to watching porn?

Will they keep succeeding off of the field?

Will they falter as good fathers and husbands?

Been a rough 5 years I guess. Braves couldn't even permission to talk to him back in 2017

Was he the GM where they won their World Series? If so he’s still gotta be a legend

Terrible decision. Weak willed owner listening to a minority of loud delusional fans. He built a World Series winner inheriting Zack Greinke, Billy Butler, Alex Gordon, and the worst farm system in baseball. MLB is a league of "Haves" and "Have Nots." Exactly one team in the bottom third of market size has won a World Series in the last 32 years. For the "they got lucky" crowd, they are also the only small market team to win back-to-back pennants in the same time frame. We just fired the guy that built that and was nearing the end of rebuild 2.0. Really sad day for the Royals!

I loathe this decision. Rudderless, weak franchises do this.

Weak and rudderless franchise since the 90's outside of a sweet 2-3 year run, that is KC in a nutshell

Almost no one give two shits about this team good or bad, Fans have been alienated by the FO for years

Its about accountability, if you say you're going to be competitive year after year while making all the wrong moves your job is going to be someone else's

Exactly this, 110%. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'd take 20 years of 60 win baseball for ONE World Series win for the Brewers. It's easy to forget what happened 7 years ago, but the man put together the squad that won a freaking World Championship. That team gave small market teams hope. I'd bet Cincy, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Oakland, etc. fans would feel the same way as I do about the Brewers. Sure, dislike how the team is now and chastise the direction/roster/front office personnel...but you have a beautiful flag to look at that can't be taken away...

Look at my beloved white sox. Ken Williams is still in charge and they only made back to back postseasons just recently. For a team that’s over 120 years old. And the Sox didn’t even make the playoffs for 13 years before that. But hey,,,,,,,,we still got 2005!!!!!!!

Exactly. It's easy to forget how rough some franchises have had it. The worst franchises lack stability at the top. The reason we went into our last nuclear winter is because we let Schuerholz go to the Braves. It wasn't until Schuerholz' protege Moore came to town that we finally got back on track. This type of move can set a franchise back decades.

I am thankful for everything Dayton did for the Royals but I think it was time to move on. He will be greatly remembered for his 2014 and 2015 and rebuilding our minor leagues. Will this fix the Royals? Not sure. He’s probably more of a scapegoat than anything. But I hope Matheny and Eldred and co are on their way out as well. I wish Dayton the best

This is where myself and other younger fans are at a disconnect with the older, more traditional types; we view baseball as entertainment vs something to be proud of

I would absolutely rather watch entertaining baseball win/lose/or draw than watch what the royals have been doing, although things are looking brighter with DM gone and a 1-Game win streak

Ummm, i guess you don't actually follow the team as everyone already hates JJ and assumes the worst

Sherm created the Pres slot for Dayton, it did not exist before him and will not be filled post Dayton per Sherm's orders so JJ is it for now.....

I say give him a year (or two) to show us he's competent, however this off season Cal, Mike and Lonnie need to be shown the door (more to follow)

I lived in KC most of his tenure. He ran pretty far over EV most of that time getting to 2 World Series and winning one.

Anyone who thinks he should not have been let go is very delusional. He has no accountability. Listen to his last presser. He was fine with the direction of the team. He said he should not be questioned. He kept the two worst players in baseball on the team for the last two years. He has kept the worst pitching coach in baseball on the staff. His decisions were made on whether the guys were good Christians not if they were good baseball players. It was a joke. If you are a Royals fan and you still wanted him around, you are culpable.

He would never be able to get back to one with his choices now.

Won the World Series in 2015, made it to the World Series in 2014. Won with guys like Moustakas and Hosmer. Didn't pay them to retain them, turned out they weren't worth it.

Bottom 3rd of the league in payroll since. Drafted Bobby Witt Jr.

What did he do wrong? Serious question. He seems to have had no money to spend and the only player he kept turned out to be the best one (Salvador Perez) and was smart enough to trade for guys like Benintendi and drafted pretty well?
