Default Barry Sanders, Jerry Rice, or Randy Moss?

Seems like Barry is most expensive of these legends, tho Jerry probably the best player. I'm guessing Barry just had the "it" factor... As well as Randy. Jerry was kinda boring. Dude just did his job better than anyone ever, and won titles. How would you guys rank them from a collecting standpoint of who u would want to collect?

When it came top early to mid 90's collecting, Barry was the guy you wanted to hit in packs (along with Emmitt next).

That being said, the '86 Topps Rice is the most important card of anyone in that group.

Barry and Randy were tough autos for a long time. I know Randy had like a 10 year run, where he wouldn't sign anything for the card guys. And only since he got into the Hall, has he been signing more and more at shows.

Barry I think is still exclusive to Schwartz, and they limit his auto output to keep his prices high.

Jerry has always signed. He has more signed stuff out there than the other 2. In the 90s, Topps used to give away Rice signed cards with certain sets. Even as the GOAT, his typical auto sells for less than the other 2.

Definitely misinterpreting what I'm saying. I think Jerry Rice is probably the best football player ever. Having said that, I think that the reason he might not be as expensive as probably Barry is style. Rice was so good at his job he made it look easy. He was always open. Wasn't a physical marvel who out-ran or out-jumped everyone.

Funny I only PC 5 football players and you named 2 of the 3. Sanders and Rice. However to say Rice was boring is crazy and shows that you must not have watched many Niner games in the 1990s. Rice is the Goat

Rice shined the brightest, on the NFL's biggest stage. That is to say, all through the playoffs. Barry never really got to do that. Those 80s and 49ers were in the national spotlight as well.

Rice was all over cereal boxes and magazine covers while he was playing. Barry was usually just seen in regional games, no national exposure.

Jerry was making commercials, and Barry's personality was always a bit boring.

Then you have Moss. He was outrageous for his personality. And I think that influences his prices too. As far as WR's go, I think he was the first Bad Boy Diva to do that stuff.

After him, Owens, Chad Johnson and a ton of guys started to do their own personas to get attention. So much so, that the league had to make rules to stop that behavior.

Jerry Rice is getting more and more expensive. One of the issues with Rice is he is not in as many of the insert sets as a Marino or a Barry or an Emmitt. So that means less high profiles sales for the novice collector to gawk at. That being said, he sells near what Barry does and has been since 2014 for the most elusive items. Typically double anyone else, outside of a few Favres.
Barry has the Youtube clips, so he has more of a National appeal, but Jerry is in one of the highest price areas in the country with a very loyal fan base. I think Jerry being one of the top 3 footballers all time makes him the better investment.
Randy Moss is an interesting curveball in the mix because he has the youtube clips and is a TV personality so he may grab attention for future generations.
My opinion. Winner, Dynasty, fan base, greatest of all time no questions, and maybe one of the greatest footballers ever, Jerry Rice is the best bet. Rice beat people in different ways, typically well before the camera was on him, so don't discount the other two for the flash of Youtube and being loved forever.

Jerry was the greatest.

Barry and Moss needed to try more to be.

Ha ha, I completely get where you are coming from. Yes, Rice was very mechanical, precise, etc. Obviously one of the best, but he wouldn't wow you with speed, jumping over somebody, etc. Kind of like Brady is for QBs. Brady is boring from an athletic standpoint, but he just makes all plays and is technically sound.

I love Barry (number one all time for me), his game was off the charts exciting but his personality is a dud for the most part. I actually enjoy the players who don't showboat so I appreciate boring. Rice and Sanders both lean toward this.

Moss is the opposite. Lots of flash and personality. He would be the odd one out for me. Never liked him and considered him lazy at times.

Jerry Rice boring? WUT

To me, Jerry Rice then Barry.

Moss isn't even in my top 5 as collecting goes.

Personally, I have Prime Time at #3

Barry Sanders. Dude did things no one can on the field. Yes, Rice was great but he was surrounded by talent. Same with Emmitt Smith. Because of that and the way Barry left the game at his prime, he'll continue to draw new collectors in the future

I love Barry and Rice and am a 49er fan so I admit I am bias....That being said Jerry Rice holds so many records and many of them will never be touched...Jerry was the Best to ever play at his position HANDS DOWN, can you say the same thing about Barry Sanders maybe but maybe not..... ON a side note I would love to see what Barry could have done with an average or better team, I bet he would have had some much better numbers and had a longer career and would probably hold every major rushing record.....It is posts like this that make me glad I grew up in the 1990s. Every one of my sports had some of the best to ever play the game during that era....

The Lions stink aside. The two things that bugs me the most about Sanders and what his stats could have been. Playing in the stupid run n'shoot (chuck n duck) offense and how many time Fontes took him out on goal line sets. He probably missed out on at least 8-12 TDs just by being pulled.

Rice was the model of longevity/consistency.

Moss was the biggest home run threat and brought a amusing attitude.

Sanders was the most fun to watch and made grown men look silly. Never seen anything like it. Also helps that he was a Heisman winner unlike the other 2.

Barry was the best of the 3, he did everything and anything he wanted, one of the most amazing players to watch play the game.

Rice had the pedigree, and hardware, but you were never amazed by the way he played. He was a consistant quiet player. Did his job in the system.

Moss made a few sweet catches every season, about it.

Jerry Rice boring?

dude scored 22 touchdowns in 12 games....of a strike season. Randy Moss scored 23....in 16 games....with the lax NFL pass defense rules.

yeah...idk if boring is the right word

^^this^^

People forget 1980s Rice was the super fast, heavy TD scoring, highlight reel WR that Moss gets credit for.

Consistent Quiet Player? Just did his job, like a cog in the machine? Super Bowl MVP, Twice player of the year, 6 times he lead the league in both yards and touchdowns (over 2 decades as well).
