Hoping to either see just Rolen or an empty class.
Would love to see Beltran get less than 5% and thus knocked off the ballot. Seeing an MLB didn't really punish the players in the trash can scandal...dumping an otherwise HOF worthy/near worthy player would send a loud and clear message. Can't get behind Helton. Too much Coors effect skew on his career splits. Poster boy for modern era HOVGers. |

I'm thinking it's just Rolen this year. I'll be glad to see him get in if he does!
I think Wagner and Jones get in at some point too, although probably not this year.

Rolen for sure and with a weaker ballot, I think we see Andruw Jones move up in support.

Great year for people who don’t want to see anyone elected…
Personally, I think Rolen is above the threshold for a HOFer. Beltran is there as well but he won’t get in. I can see why people support Wagner. I can also see why people support Helton, but those people are wrong. |

I mean, I would be shocked if the living legend himself Bronson Arroyo didn't become the 2nd 100% 1st ballot hof'er...........Be nice if Rolen gets in this year. Beltran should be in. I don't care about the Houston cheating thing. All teams cheat. Astros just got caught. Don't see anyone else making it

yeah problem is Larry Walker was elected so that just dismisses the Coors factor despite how much more vast their numbers were while at Coors, especially the batting average and slugging |

Yeah the problem is if you neutralize their stats, Larry Walker still puts up Hall of Fame numbers, but Todd Helton is indistinguishable from Derrek Lee.

I think Helton gets in at some point. It feels like a foregone conclusion that once someone makes it over 50%, they eventually get in (PEDs and Curt Schilling aside).

Rollins should get more support than 9.4% this year

Coors simply gives good hitters video game stats. Look at someone like Buster Posey who played all of his home games in a pitchers park and still was able to hit .300. Imagine his stats at Coors. Career as a visitor he hit .365 with 23 2B, 16 hrs, 57 rbis in 74 starts Last edited by duwal; 11-21-2022 at 02:59 PM. |

I lived through The Todd Helton Era and I can’t say I ever felt like I was watching a Hall of Famer…

Can someone explain to me why Jeff Kent gets no love? The guy is one of the top 20, maybe top 10 second baseman ever. He has an MVP, the most HRs ever by a 2nd, 2400 hits, 1500 RBIs. To me he's a no brainer

Walker got helped greatly by Coors - no doubt. But he got elected due to overall body of work - he was a true five tool player. Didn't play a premium defensive position, but more valuable than Helton's. Seven GGs to Helton's three. Had an absolute rocket launcher of an arm, one of the best of his era. Managed to steal 230 bases. Walker was a perfect 'final year on the ballot' kind of guy. Helton is a notch below IMO.

Scott Rolen for sure.
Close and maybe in: Helton, Wagner & Jones No 1st Ballot HOFs. Vizquel would have either been in last year or this year if it were for the domestic violence. I could see him falling off because of it this year since I think it came out in the middle of voting last year.

(This was in reference to me saying that Helton minus Coors is indistinguishable from Derrek Lee, and that Larry Walker was still a HOFer outside of Coors).
Neutralized stats for Todd Helton 316 HR / 1144 RBI / 2219 H / .290 AVG / .384 OBP / .490 SLG / .874 OPS Derrek Lee's career line: 331 HR / 1078 RBI / 1959 H / .281 AVG / .365 OBP / .495 SLG / .859 OPS Todd Helton's stats if you doubled his stats batting in non-Coors parks: 284 HR / 1094 RBI / 2250 H / .287 AVG / .386 OBP / .469 SLG / .855 OPS Larry Walker, for the record (career neutralized): 350 HR / 1157 RBI / 2019 H / .292 AVG / / .376 OBP / .525 SLG / .902 OPS Plus, he has seven Gold Gloves (more than the other two combined) And, he has 230 stolen bases (twice as many stolen bases than the other two combined). Also, he is one of only THREE players in baseball history to be in the top 100 of BRef's baserunning runs, defensive runs saved, and batting runs - joining only Willie Mays and Barry Bonds. You are right about him being a better overall player than Helton, but I think the MVP sealed it for him.

Really wish Joe Nathan would have gotten a few more votes last year to get back on the ballot this year. Too many candidates to get traction last year, this year I think people would have at least given him a closer look
