Who here is a Ebay Top Rated Plus Seller?

Just got a message from them to became one. Just wanting to see the downside besides agreeing to 1 day handing? Also does it seem to help at all with views on your auctions? Mine has been terrible lately for some reason. Seems like a ton of mine are getting lost in the matrix and ending the week with 0 or 1 view. Thanks.

If you print postage at home, 1 day shipping isn't too bad I think, just have to at least get the label printed by end of next business day after payment. I mostly do fixed price/best offer selling so while unpredictable when something sells, at least its one or two labels and not 20+.

As a seller, I try to always ship next day. As a buyer it doesn't impress me to see a tracking number pop 5 minutes after I pay, but there's no movement for 4-5 days.

Are you normally asked? Or does eBay do it automatically based on sales/feedback? Just curious.

This is the first time I remember them messaging me about it. I went over 1000 feedback at 100 percent positive not too long ago. I don't know if that triggered it or just a coincidence.

To become a Top Rated Seller, you'll need to:

Have an eBay account that's been active for at least 90 days
Have at least 100 transactions and $1,000 in sales with US buyers over the past 12 months
Comply with eBay's selling practices policy
Meet the requirements for transaction defect rate, cases closed without seller resolution, and late shipment rate (you'll find the requirements in the table below)

You'll automatically receive a 5-star shipping time detailed seller rating if:

You specify either same business day or 1 business day handling.
You upload US Postal Service, UPS, or FedEx supported tracking information by the end of the next business day (Pacific Time) after the buyer's payment clears. For same business day handling, upload tracking within 1 business day. A business day is a normal weekday. Saturdays, Sundays, and major holidays aren't business days.

I have been a top rated seller for a couple years and I would agree it is easy to do the 1 day turn around on shipping if you print out labels at home. The biggest potential issue is the 30 day return policy. I am fortunate enough that I have not had a single return on a card during the time I have been top rated, but that could be a potential headache. The added exposure and discount on ending value fees make up for the potential inconvenience IMO.

I'd say take up the offer if you can and see if it works for you. I'm pretty sure for the 1 day handling, you only have to print the label within 1 business day. And you shouldn't have to take returns to get the discount, as some members here have taught me. Not sure what the downfall is if you opt in.

Top Rated and Top Rated Plus should be differentiated. Top Rated Plus is Top Rated with the 1-day handling and 30 day free returns, but in the trading cards category you dont need to have 30 day free returns to get the 10% discount. Without the 30 day free returns you basically just dont get the top rated plus badge on your listings. For many, the badge is not worth doing the 30 day free returns.

This is exactly correct. There is a difference between Top Rated and Top Rated Plus (what the OP is asking about). Top Rated Plus gives you the 10% discount on FVF, but you need to have the 1 day handling time.

There's no real downside to the program. Worst thing that can happen is you don't meet the requirements and you lose the status / benefits. They do give you a grace period though, which is nice.

The 10% discount on fees adds up. I haven't had to do anything differently to earn the top rated status...I always try to ship same or next day because that's what I'd like as a buyer.
