Default Mike Evans

At just 29 years of age he now has 9 straight 1000 yard seasons.

That was definitely a hall-of-fame performance today

I never thought much about it but my opinion of him is stilted by blowout, eveyone here just kills him for getting injured or dropping a lot of passes.

As far as I know he's only missed 10 games due to injury / suspension during the entirety of his career. He's pretty damn durable and dependable. Bottom line, he's a gamer. Doesn't have much of an ego, does his job doesn't really complain a whole lot. And by all accounts the great locker room presence and team leader

His drops have also significantly decreased in the past 7 years so that criticism doesn't hold water anymore.

Who is more of a lock for the HOF? Evans or Davante Adams? Both from the 2014 draft class.

There are some on the board who say that neither Evans nor Davante will get into the Hall of Fame, and that 2014 draft pick Brandin Cooks is first-ballot.

Those knuckleheads are delusional.

Ha, are you sure it's not sarcasm directed towards the "Brandon Cook's numbered to 99" infamous group break?

Mike Evans is getting closer, but still not in, IMO. Devante? He's in. And if you pay attention to voting tendencies, you already know All-Pro 1st team selections (for all positions outside of QB) are the best thing to have on your resume. All-Decade selections are also huge, but not necessarily going to hold you back if you don't have that on your resume since your peak has to fall perfectly in the 10-year window. Unfortunately for both Evans and Adams, their peak fell on equal sides of two decades.

D. Adams - 2 All-Pro 1st team selections (soon to be 3 this year)
M. Evans - 0 All-Pro 1st team selections

Counting stats are nice, but go look at the backlog of candidates at the WR position. What will stand out are those 3 All-Pros. Adams gets in if he keels over tomorrow; Evans still has work to do.

Devonte has a higher ceiling of performance but when it comes to consistency, Evans is rock solid. Adams had a tough beginning of his career. It depends on what the voters appreciate. Evans has a Super Bowl, a Decade of 1,000 yard receiving seasons while both have gone over 80 Touchdowns for their career.

To have a career like Evans…. It’s essential to accumulate. If he can keep grinding and get to 14k I think he’s in. I also think 100 receiving tds are a lock. Those numbers are in play for him

Adams top end is among the best the position has seen. I do think he needs to get to 100 td since the counting stats won’t be there. Guys like Andre Johnson, Steve Smith, Reggie Wayne at this point are more deserving than either Evans or adams…….. the road for wr is a tough one

The Wide Receivers are the hardest positions to select because of those who have had to wait just to be selected.

My question about the 3 pWR’s you brought up and the 2 from this thread is Who had the best quarterbacks to help them be successful for the length of time in the NFL? Wayne had P. Manning for a lengthy time as did Adams with Rodgers. I believe that would help the player significantly.

Adams from rodgers… to carr….. to stidham last night and had 100 and 3 tds

It’s just hard to quantify. I was always a believer Andre Johnson should have been first ballot. He never had much but was clearly in a class of his own for a while.

But yea…. It’s tough to gauge I can’t argue with that. I just try to take the stats for what they are.. and then give extra credit to impressive stats and accolades if qb play wasn’t good

I hear you, I loved Anquan Boldin, who was as tough as any player ever to take the field. To critique Boldin with one word : FEARLESS! Thought he deserved to be in.

I like this thought process!

Also for all my joking about Evans being in the HoVG, I think he has a legit shot for the HoF and his trajectory so far puts him there. It's also possible he falls off a statistical cliff like AJ Green or Demaryius Thomas (RIP) and they are remembered fondly by their fan bases and that's about it.

Challenge:

I'll quit the forums forever if Evans is enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Now y'all don't know what the hell to root for, do you.

I’d root for him not to make it still.

It would just make you saltier and saltier with each passing missed enshrinement.

I’m into the slow fades.

For all these guys, the number to think about is 100.

There's not a HOF eligible player who isn't in that scored 100 touchdowns.

Active leaders are:

Devante Adams (30)- 87
Mike Evans (29)- 82
Derek Henry (29)- 81
Zeke Elliott (27)- 80
Tyreek Hill (28)- 76

The guy in that group I have the most trouble wrapping my mind around as a possible HOFer is Zeke.
