Bobby Hull was at the Orland Park, IL show 5/15/2022 signing autographs and he was selling some hockey sticks and other memorabilia.

Legend on the ice but a terrible person off of it.

Even the Blackhawks have distanced themselves from him in recent years.

Why be good when there’s no press but be bad and you’re a ‘celeb’. Sad. He was a amazing hockey player - can’t be say that and rip. |

I am aware that Hull loved to beat the crap outta' his wife (though he avoided fighting on the ice against men). So, he was definitely a coward. However, a lot of athletes who are widely collected did crazy things. Jim Brown almost killed his girlfriend, Joe DiMaggio used to slap around Marilyn Monroe, Kobe Bryant raped someone, Mike Tyson ... Roethlisberger ... Vick ... the list goes on and on ...
The truth in the end is this: a lot of the athletes that we look up to did crazy things behind closed doors. |

No, I don't think being good at a sport means I need to give someone credit when they are a well documented racist, nazi-sympathing, wife-beating POS.

He was a natural athlete who could have played pro football as he was scouted by pro scouts he also was a regional sprint champion over the 100 yard dash in high school. Jim Brown has the same checkered history with domestic violence but the NFL hasn't distanced themselves from him, unlike Lawrence Taylor who has minimal contact with the Giants because of his legal issues. |

Why would that be awkward in Chicago? Aren’t you used to seeing glowing RIP posts for terrible people there who happened to be good at video games, skateboarding and community hall cleaning?

See the size of the guy and the arms on him? Definitely someone not to be revered no matter what he did on the ice. Off the ice, Bobby Hull leaves a difficult legacy. Two of his three wives alleged domestic abuse incidents, and he was fined $150 and placed on six months court supervision after being found guilty of assaulting the police officer who intervened in an argument between Hull and his then-wife, Deborah, in 1986. https://www.cbc.ca/sports/bobby-hull...hmed-1.6359930 https://www.arcticicehockey.com/2018...estic-violence

I have such mixed feelings of sadness about Hull's passing - he was very kind to me in the one interaction I had with him, and I haven't forgotten that. But his history shows he was anything but a good person.

When I was a little kid Bobby Hull was my favourite player next to Dave Keon ... as time went by and Hull retired I started to read about his drinking problem and domestic abuse ... as a player he was amazing as a person not so much ... anyway RIP Bobby

Bobby used to show up all around Chicagoland doing signings from places like jewel/osco on up to card show circuit. We met him a number of times to the point as where he knew us on a very surface level.
A cool Story… we’re a hockey family and back in the mid 60s my dad would buy equipment at a place called gunzos. Chicago folks may be aware of it. They would get players unused equipment at the end of the season and one of the items my dad bought was an unused banana blade made for hull and stamped with his name on it. The nhl actually made a rule about such blades because of it. Anyways we took the stick to one of the signings in the late 80s or early 90s and it was a trip. He spent 5 minutes or more with it. Stood up, held it, quite frankly couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Even offered some swag to trade. My father respectfully declined. I’ll snap a photo and post it next time I’m at their house. It’s a pretty cool piece of nhl history. The blade is wicked. Dude was a bad husband but multiple interactions with him over the years in my youth were fun and memorable. Rip

Where do I revere him? I said he was a helluva player, maybe a top-10 ATG and he deserves credit for what he did on the ice. Never said he was a decent human being. Don't put words in my mouth. |

I met him when I was a kid at a pros vs firefighters celebrity hockey thing my dad was involved with. He was cool as hell, super nice and was cracking jokes the whole time, his personality was magnetic. I brought like 10 things for him to sign as I was a huge Hawks fan and he happily signed them all for me. I also met Guy Lafleur and a few other HOF guys but my interaction with Bobby was the most memorable, he took the extra time to give my 10-year-old self a great experience. Pretty disgusting to see so many people sh*tting on him as soon as he's dead but that's par for the course in this virtue signaling, terminally online dystopia.
RIP to the Golden Jet, one of the best to ever lace them up. |

Being against domestic abuse=virtue signaling.
Is there nobody’s grave worth pissing on anymore?
