Default How will history remember the Brooklyn Nets superteam?

Was the Nets “Superteam” the worst in NBA history? Or at least the biggest failure? I don’t want to say it was easy to see this coming, but they really put together a collection of personalities that were known for not being the best team players.

Superflop.

Curious as to how Kyrie and Luka will coexist too.

Has this ever happened before in pro sports where a playoff team completely tore it self down because of the selfishness and immaturity of its "star" players? The league is a complete joke, they might as well contract half of it. I'm not even a nets fan, but what the hell message does this send to fanbases? Sorry even if guys sign with your team, when something doesnt go their way theyll flake out and demand a trade?

I don't know about "tore itself down", but the Eagles in 2011 when they were dubbed the "dream team" and then finished 8-8 and missed the playoffs was the one I recall sticking out.

The nets are 10 games over. It's just crazy to see this happen and hopefully stuff like this stays in the nba and doesnt spread to other sports.

Yeah, what’s crazy is that I think they could have had the best record in the East and it wouldn’t have mattered. They collected a group of people that have no sense of “team”.

I can’t say that I’ll remember them at all in a few years.

The real question is - is there an organization worse at building a superteam than the Nets?

They also tried with Pierce, KG, etc and that backfired tremendously and set the Celtics up for what they are now.

KD loves to ride the bus not drive it. kyrie is the definition of entitled. harden was their the shortest but his damage is the highest because of everything we gave up and all we have to show for it was an already broken ben simmons and a lesser curry

Completely worthless. Was clear from the very beginning. Many of us called it exactly how it then went.

Also an example of why you don't let the players run the team, but we all know that won't stop.

That's a good comparison. Also the 2012-13 Lakers with Kobe Nash and Dwight who got swept in Round 1

yeah but the lakers didn't trade Kobe. This would be like say last July Judge and say Cole demanding to be traded and refusing the to play until they are.

It's fun to dump on this Nets "superteam" but this is simply a lazy, bad take. KD didn't just "ride" the bus for those OKC playoff teams from 2010-2016 (1 Finals Appearance, 4 WCF appearances). Leaving for GS could be seen as busriding if he wasn't the best player on the court during a 16-1 postseason run. The B2B Finals MVP thing kinda stands out, too. Was a tank in the 2019 playoffs (35PPG against the Clippers, 36PPG before getting hurt against the Rockets) in what would have almost definitely been a 3-peat had he not gotten injured.

I wasn't a big fan of the Brooklyn run but dude came off an injury that many thought would be career-ending or, at the very least career-altering, to lead a clearly inferior Nets team to within a literal inch of taking down the eventual chapion Bucks, prompting Giannis, of all people, to call him the best player in the league.

I think you could say that (like most stars today) KD prefers to be surrounded by talent but it's pretty clear he doesn't really take a backseat to anyone once surrounded with talent.

he was drafted by OKC. totally different circumstance. since he left OKC, he preferred to ride the bus. if he truly wanted to be a driver...he just had the best opportunity to officially change the narrative and chose to leave the driver seat....again.
