Default Damaged Ginter Wood mini

Will Topps replace this wood mini? It's got some sort of stained blemish and intention in it

Ask for a base mini in return since you clearly don’t want a card made out of wood. SMH

No need to be rude. It clearly is damaged. A dining room table is also wood, and you wouldn't want one with a crack/groove cut into the surface.

They won’t replace. I’ve asked before. The wood mini stock is from China

It is unique so doesn't really impact value. It likely comes down to personal preference.

Makes sense since there aren’t trees in America.

It’s more like a knot in the wood, a natural feature others would appreciate.

That was my initial reaction as well.

I've got a Kershaw wood mini 1/1 where the paper stock backing is peeling away from the wood front.

This is like complaining after pulling a severely miscut Pokémon card.

OP - I dont think its damaged so Topps won't replace it. I love wood minis and the grain in the wood on yours gives it more of an appeal in my opinion. The wood minis are cut so thin they almost appear more cardboard than wood.

Keep it!

Pretty sure those balloons that the government shot down contained the wood to make the wood minis.

Personally I would want it that way, wood grains and knots give the card a natural authentic look and character. I would be very surprised if Topps would replace it.

Hi

I know wood minis has been out for awhile but.....

Currently Julio Rodriguez Rookie cards will be in this product and we could possibly see BOBBY WITT JR / Wander Franco RD/ RILEY GREENE / ADLEY RUTSCHMAN and a few others if they get called up soon. There could also be SP RCs which would sell for thousands.

At $800 / per mini, doesnt it sound to good to be true?

And if $800 is too much for you, you can have the seller cut 1/4 of the wood for $200.

By this time PSA should have a $35-50 grading level. You can get that half or 1/4 wood mini slabbed for easy profit.

Any thoughts on the potential of this product as well as the current price?

I think it could be one of the hottest products if not the hottest product this past years.

That is clearly a crack/split due to aftermarket care by someone (Topps or the mill that processed it) and not a natural formation in the wood grain. The wood that is used is almost certainly a balsa wood which is fast growing and is milled without knots for appearance rated sheets (that’s what you’ll find at most hobby lobbies)… I’m sure there are knots but they are processed out or used for a different purpose. Looks like either someone tried to repair the split or that’s ink that seeped into the crack. Either way the substrate is cheap and Topps should not have allowed that out the door.

unfortunately, the wood minis of late have had a lot of random graining.

the earlier ones were super clean.

this years have actually been an improvement over the last few years.
