So four 9.5s make a 10 now? Makes sense.

Ha, ha. Watch them remove subgrades as well, they will just be the same as everybody else.

it's very clear 4x 9.5=38

Little early for April Fools. So happy I'm not sucked in to the grading scam.

All they had to do was change the tag fro, "Gem Mint" to "True Gem" and leave the 10s alone. There is a very stupid individual calling shots at BGS.

Looks like the person calling the shots over at BGS is a student of New Math/Common Core. It's the only explanation.

9.5 x 4 = 38

38 ÷ 4 = 9.5

How does this equal a 10 exactly?

Dumb dumb dumb

BGS has always been my preferred TPG but this is about the stupidest thing they could do.

Someone has to get fired for these dumb ideas at Beckett...

1. Dumb new labels introduced at the National
2. Dumb math introduced at the Mint Collective

I guess next is dumb new slabs at this year's National.

Here's way to improve Beckett without all these crazy things:
1. Your core competence is with sub-grade. Have all grades with sub grades.
2. Fix your website. It's been awful for too long.
3. Add competent customer services reps.
4. Fix your lack of communications in grading process. Current BGS tracker is a joke. See #2.
5. Lower your prices until you get sufficient demands to rival PSA.

Trying to copy PSA will not work.

Looks like I can send in my quad (or better) 9.5s for some free 10s!

It’s what we’ve always thought and Dr Jim signed off too.

Except it isn't free. They will charge for the reslab.

So, once this goes live, can we expect sellers to price all their old label BGS 9.5's the same as current BGS 9's?

Let's be honest, BGS screwed themselves by letting PSA 10's be perceived as superior to quad BGS 9.5's.

This idea is so stupid, it's genius. You have to think like the typical clueless consumer. 10 is higher than 9.5 -- ergo, PSA 10's are better than BGS 9.5's.

The reality is quad BGS 9.5's are generally equal in condition to PSA 10's -- possibly superior, considering BGS is tougher on centering and their transparency with sub grades.

This can be true, but a great majority of the time is not true. Anyone that has tried to crack/cross BGS to PSA knows this. BGS is more lenient on corners, which is the toughest part about a rectangular card.

I don't know about crossover success, but I have an equal amount of PSA and BGS graded cards. The corners on my quad BGS 9.5 cards are all good. The BGS's with 9 corner subgrades are definitely flawed.

On the other hand, I have multiple PSA 10's with corner flaws.

Dude that's the best idea I've heard in a long time. Just adopt the language the market is already using. BGS can lean into it and make the black label the real prize of the hobby. Then they can eliminate all subgrades except when it's a Min-Gem or higher.

Min-Gem, True Gem, Gem Mint+
