Default Damaged card received from ebay authenticators

I recently purchased a card for $550. It's a raw card. I just got it in. It's sealed in a cardsaver and I can see a noticeable indentation on the back that pushes through to the front of the card. Like a fingernail.was pressed into the back and raised out the front. No damage to the card saver holder. You can't see it in the ebay image but you can only.photograph it to be seen at an angle.with the light just right. I'm extremely disappointed as this is a rare card that I may not be able to buy again.

I contacted the seller and told them.told them about it and his response was basically. " must've been done at authentication, you'll have to try and contact ebay about it, good luck". That's not his exact words but what it amounted to.

So, I guess I can start a return for item not as described but not sure how that will work going through authentication. This just sucks.

You sure that's not on the soft sleeve?

If it is an indentation. That's a PSA 7-8 depending how how large and deep it is (I can't tell from the photos). Probably wouldn't have been rejected by CSG anyway.

As stated above, that looks like it's on the penny sleeve. Try moving the card around a bit by tapping the edge and see if you can tell for sure.

Agree with these guys. Especially with it being a relic card, it would seem nearly impossible for a fine indentation on the back to show up on the front.

For what it's worth, the seller is correct to contact eBay should there actually be damage. His part in the transaction is completely finished.

Yeah at this point any onus is on eBay for return/refund, but you need to be sure it's not on the penny sleeve/team bag. Just ensure you don't break the authentication seal or your concerns are voided.

Tap the card saver and see if you can shift the card a little?

They reuse the sleeve, double sleeve it, the put the dusty double sleeved card in the card saver. I've never been that sure, but I've thought there was surface issues when it was on the sleeve.

Good luck!

I can tap the card around the card saver but can't get it to move in the penny sleeve. It looks like it's on the card itself but now I'm really wondering. It's in two penny sleeves covering the card both ways.

I'm gonna keep it so I'm just gonna cut the ebay seal and take it out to check for sure.

Well now.i feel like an idiot. Ebay used a damaged penny sleeve. One side is actually cut through and the other side is stretched and poked out. I'm so glad it turns out the card isn't damaged!

Wow sweet card! The couple of Authenticity Guaranteed cards I have bought were very well packed. Are you going to grade it or enjoy it now?

Will leave it raw. I collect this set, didn't think I'd have a chance to add the Cobb to it. Ive got allnthe smaller cards from the set and a couple of the bigger ones. Here are my Ryan 7th no hitter ball cards from the same set. I really think this is the greatest GU set ever produced.

You should create a thread and post all the cards you’ve got from this set, would love to see them all! And who knows, maybe someone will reach out with a missing card.

Just for the record on how the authentication process works for returns, once it goes through authentication the seller is not at all obligated to accept returns. I sold a $1000 raw card and the person that bought it and then tried to claim it wasn’t as described because, in my estimation, he didn’t feel it would gem even though I sold it as Nrmt-Mt. I declined the return and eBay handled it from there. As a side note he got stuck with the card and is now selling it, after grading, and it’s a PSA 9.
