I would love to get advice from some of the experienced people regarding the upcoming Chicago baseball card meeting. My sons and i have been collecting Vintage for the past 20 plus years. This is the first meeting we are going to and really have a few questions we would love to try to get answered. Please accept my apology in advance if these are obvious questions but we are totally inexperienced in this.
1- Should we bring cash or is it ususally credit card transactions? 2-Is there certain times or days they show Vintage Cards or do you just have to walk around and check out different tables? 3- There has been a lot of talk on the forum about altered cards is there a site that we can go to where these are shown Thank you in advance Joaquin |

1. Cash is king, but bring plastic. Trading is also up there.
2. There will be vintage EVERYWHERE. 3. Altered cards sadly are everywhere. Use your best judgement. Quite a few dealers are legit, but bad actors are out there. 4. Make sure you hit some of the local stores while you are in Chicago. Elite sportscards is in the city not horribly far from the convention center. 5. Both the white sox and cubs are home during national Week. Make a trip to either one when you are in town. |

PayPal, CashApp and Venmo are good alternatives. Since it's in person,no fee (friends and family) payments are fine

Plan on having to use physical cash for any purchases. Some people will take digital payment (PayPal F&F, Venmo, Zelle, etc.) but it's not universal, especially with some vintage dealers being old school.
If there are cards you're less attached to, not a bad idea to bring some to trade/sell as that can be a currency in its own right. |

With the new Federal laws, even if you pay cash I'd recommend you get a receipt for every card you plan to buy. When you go to sell later on, it will lower your tax burden if you make a profit.
There will be some vendors that are known for trimming cards or selling them. Once the forum opens and the list of vendors is out there, there will probably be a few people who create lists of the scammers. |

The last day is the day to make deals. Especially in cash.
