Default Let's talk perf

Not trying to besmirch anyone's reputation here.

Do the edge areas in the below pic look like a normal perf rip?

Perf'd cards I've ripped don't look like this. Maybe just my experience (or lack thereof).

I wasn't in the room when this card was separated from the page, so I don't know.

There are plenty of SGC Wemby's out there in authentic slabs that may have been deemed modified.

This card is an SGC 9, so SGC judged it all good.

What grade would this card get from PSA?

I wouldn't overthink it. The same perforator may not process each sheet the same making them less likely to be alike, and some people are probably more careful about how they separate the sheets than others.

If anything, I'd say that those imperfections make it more likely to be actually separated than trimmed.

No intentional pump.

I've got a couple of these sheets, just want to hear members' thoughts on the perfs.

14k is outrageous IMO.

A much better looking PSA 8 sold for 2.8k: ebay.com/itm/155580578493

I'll say that once his licensed cards come out people paying $2.8k for a sports illustrated card will regret it.

A ton of SI Kids magazine had NO horizontal perforations on the page, affecting the bottom of Wembys card, people improvised.

Yes, the missing horizontal perfs on this card are brutal. Quite a few pages have this problem. I've seen many pages with very light, almost nonexistent horizontal perfs on this card as well.

Some other SI sheets have horizontal perfs that do not reach the edge of the page, making the last quarter inch of the top or bottom edge of a card all smurfed up when ripped.

Wemby's card is middle, top in the grid of 9 cards, so the perfs not reaching the page edge is not a problem. The bottom edge of his card is a big problem, making high grades difficult I think; and maybe pushing people to grade the whole page.

Snagged the Bird below a while back. Someone did a good job ripping it out. They had a well perf'd page to work with.

I made the mistake of buying one of these. Thankfully it was super cheap. These “cards” are trash quality. Even if you find one with decent centering and perforations, it is more of a piece of paper than it is a card.

If you think SI sheets are thin, get one of these ICEE's in hand:

No perfs (thankfully), but almost notebook paper.

Terrible cards to “invest” in. Pump and dump.
