Default The Burbank Card Show

I just looked at the show floor plan and there's still a ton of tables available.
948 tables on 2 seperate floors to fill maybe its early but will they fill this show.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like table prices are about to be 50% off.

A show thats purely built on influencers showing off cards and making videos. That show is all about being seen and getting more clout. Im not surprised they are having trouble in this market, with that as their dealer and attendee demo.

Customers would rather spend five grand for a family of four for a few days with Mickey than buy one box of NT basketball to pull a Larry bird sticker auto and some internet cred.

Speaking of Disneyland, I just went there with my wife.

There's a new Mickey and Minnie ride! So much fun and less than the cost of a Panini Recon BKB hobby box!

All bad -- Rob at Burbank (who seems like a nice guy) has partnered with these influencer types I wouldn't trust with a sandwich shop, much less the "West Coast National".

The organizer was on with that guy Merle (Great Curator's beotch) about 4-6 months ago. Nothing of substance to add about the business of cards and instead told tales of his local beefs and card show bust-ups with the other SoCal shows and collectors.

I've seen him and many of the others at a few shows around here -- give off the exact opposite vibe of Rob and Ryan at Burbank. Cards are also about 70% NBA as well (great for this section of the board), but little variety other than Leaf Pat Riley autos. Given the face plant that was the Ontario Convention Center, they might be one and done before Anaheim which is unfortunate.

I'd love a great card show in the neighborhood.

The best shows are on the East Coast and it’s not even close.

Not for me. Maybe because I collect Kobe and from the Youtube clips, that show has more Kobe cards than any other shows I have seen, including the National, so naturally, that show is the one show I wanted to attend, but unfortunately, I'm at the east coast and can't fly across the country for various reasons.

I don't know what you are referring to, unless you're suggesting that I'm under house arrest. If so, no, it's mostly cost of traveling and accommodation, and not wanting to dump all childcare duties to my wife for a few days.

He has 42 million cards and was at this for a long time before they showed up to him. They helped push him to modernize his store which seems to be going well for him and the idea here from his videos was to give his customers who can't get to the stuff out east access to more dealers and cards.

I don't know about pricing, but I think his intentions are good.

I liked Burbank more when it was run by Steve Veras…always more personable to me and even called me a couple of times when there was an issue with the order. I assume that Rob is his son (?) and took over the company?

Oh I get it. Ive meet him a few times, when Ive visited his store pre and post Covid. Super nice guy and staff. My comment wasn't anything negative towards the owners or the store. It was more about the show itself. But that show is a giant circle j party.

Rob, Ryan, and Burbank have good intentions -- it is the others around them (in relation to the organization and promotion of this show) that do not.

I understand not being able to get back to a national show but in
No way is there the same selection of cards or dealers at the Burbank
Show. I've done both burbank shows so far and it's fun decent deals
But it is mostly newer cards and the same dealers with the same cards
In each case.at the National you will see items never seen before a huge
Selection of modern and vintage cards or memorabilia. More dealers isn't
Always better. Maybe Rob and burbank can figure a way to get some dealers
With rare items to come out west until this happens it's just a normal so cal show
But on steroids.

It's a massive venue with a lot to live up to, but if they fill even half this place it should still be a great show.

As a SoCal native that doesn't travel to Dallas or Nationals, i'm glad they're able to bring a ton of dealers out to the West Coast.
