Default What If Mahomes Beat Brady in SBLV?

Brady would have 6 rings, Mahomes would have 3 rings at age 27. Brady beating Mahomes in this Superbowl will always help his argument if Mahomes were to test his GOAT status.

Nothing Mahomes can accomplish at this point would allow him to pass Brady—he came up short both times when it mattered in the AFCCG and the Super Bowl.

I'm more willing to entertain the idea that Eli Manning trumped Brady than what-if's trying to move Scottie Pippen ahead of Michael Jordan.

Brady beat him for sure. But the Chiefs O-line was playing on backups and 3rd stringers. He had zero time. When he manufactured time, he literally hit his receivers in the face and no one caught a thing. Sad honestly.

So by your logic if Dee Ford lined up onside on Brady's game-ending interception, Patrick Mahomes would not have come up short...

Thanks for your nuanced contribution!

I mean, if we want to give QBs credit for playing with subpar rosters and coming up short in the playoffs—then Tony Romo is a Hall of Famer.

As a Cowboys fan, I'm fine with those terms.

And all but one or two of Brady's Super Bowls were decided by a single play.

Do we accept the outcomes or not?

I’m for any thread that hypothetically pits Chiefs fans against Pats fans.

All I see are excuses. Chiefs had time to prepare. But they underestimated the Bucs defense and got taken to the woodshed. It happens. Bucs won that game fair and square.

Still my favorite post from the Official 2020 Superb Owl thread

I started to forget how much fun the weekly threads are with all the predictions and smack talk, only for it to come back on the OPs with the vengeance when things don't work out.

Oh, what if Mahomes beat Brady? Meh. He'd have 2 Super Bowl wins sooner. Perhaps he still wins the 3rd, perhaps not. He'd still need more. Doesn't matter if it's by age 27. It matters how many he has by the time he retires if the comparison is Brady.

Imagine a 3-ring Mahomes pulling a "nothing to left to prove, so I'm retiring with my health and millions."

The Mahomies would implode.

It’s funny these posts don’t get bumped by Mahomies as often as the shoulder thread or threads about Russ Wilson.

Default What If Mahomes Beat Brady in SBLV?

Brady played at a high level for 20 years.

We didnt have this conversation about Lebron and MJ in 2009 when LeBron was still on the Cavs the first time, so let’s wait until Mahomes gets about a dozen years under his belt before we compare the two.

But it is nice to see that Mahomes vs anyone else currently playing isnt a needed conversation right now.

I get the thread. Head-to-head is huge. We got it with Brady/Mahomes, whereas D12 robbed us of Kobe/Bron in the NBA. A Mahomes win would probably mean if he ended up with 4-5 rings, the debate would be intense. The L will make Brady almost insurmountable.

If you want to play the DL overmatched the OL in a Super Bowl , a fun one is: What if the Pats won Super Bowl XLII to complete the 19-0 season? In this hypothetical exercise, Brady is (even more so) completely untouchable.

This is a hypothetical about a Brady/Mahomes game.

Only you would feel so threatened to need to justify it by bringing other QBs in.

Threated how?

They are my two favorite QBs of all time, and the two NFL players I have the best PCs of.

I think it's pointless to argue theoreticals when you could instead just judge them both on their own actual merits, sit back just enjoy the great football that each of them has played.

Trust me, it's been an amazing time having been on the Brady train since 2001 when I started following their playoff run, then having great luck again when I began following Mahomes heading into his 2018 season and collecting him a year later.

In my defense I bumped the Russell Wilson Chrome Ref thread because Frenzy had just bought an 8 and a 9 and it triggered my memory of the $10k thread.

The great unspoken agreement is that I get to make memes about Mahomies in exchange for not buying any of his stuff.

You’re a fringe Mahomie. I don’t think you regularly drink water after midnight.

What if Mahomes beat Tom Brady WITH an amputated throwing shoulder?
