Default Collecting players who are known jerks

Through my time browsing BO and Net54, I have seen several people say things along the lines of:

"I saw XYZ at a signing, I asked him how he's doing and he told me to get the f*ck out of his face. I still stand in long lines and pay money for his autograph though"
"I asked XYZ for an auto at spring training and he told me to go f*ck myself. I still PC his cards to this day though"

I don't understand it. If this is you, can you explain it to me?

There's what happens inside the lines, then everything else. It's common for people to separate the two. If you look at someone like Roman Polanski, you can understandably be disgusted and never want to watch his movies. I would be like that, but I love Rosemary's Baby and The Ninth Gate and watch them whenever I come across them.

I cannot. Canseco did this to a ton of us last year at a show in Placencia, CA. I stopped collecting him right away.

A lot of my PC guys are players who were nice to me in the minors or Spring Training. A player can be a little rude to me and I’ll get over it, but if I see them be rude to kids, I’m done collecting their cards. I just lose all interest in them.

I find it pretty easy to not collect OJ Simpson or Jim Brown, though.

I chased Charles Van Doren out of a phone booth in 1958 cuz he wouldn't give me an autograph. I think that was rude but still one of my favorite American writers.

I continued to collect Pete Rose cards for a few years after I met him as a kid and he was an a-hole. I had 300+ Rose cards at the time.. from rookie on up to, I think it was maybe 1982. After that I was done with him and eventually sold most of them off.

Willie Mays is a know db to people yet he is still highly collected.

This is akin to girls who like total jerks. They know they treat them terribly but they keep on going back to them.

Where are the girls who actually like nice guys??!!???

I got Ken Griffey Jr. to give me the bird. He was my favorite player. It was during his stint as a Red. Me and my friends had tickets right on the wall. We spent the entire game heckling him. It was a blast and we erupted when he gave us the bird.

I don’t think any less of him. That’s part of the fun of being a fan.

I waited on Griffey multiple times and he was always gracious and generous. Sounds like it was you and your friends that were the #@#@#@#@#@#@#@s and he was just returning your energy

My wife says that Joe DiMaggio was the nicest player she got an autograph from. Mickey Mantle was by far the worst.

I want to assume this is a joke, but something tells me it's not....also, who is making hitler cards? Outside of that Horrors of War set some years back.
