USPS peak season rates

The past couple of years USPS rates have gone up starting October 1st through end of year. THey announced there will not be a rate increase and UPS has announced a rate decrease on some services

Thats a good thing. For me personally I don't need delivery here every day for FC mail (mostly junk or bills). I would like to see a cut in Saturday delivery except for Priority and up. Give the delivery guys a break.

I wonder if UPS is lowering prices has anything to do with USPS Ground Advantage? I have sent a TON of packages Ground Advantage through USPS since it has been offered. It has beat UPS on a large percentage of my packages, and that almost never happened prior.

If I recall UPS lowered shipping rates last year for the Holiday season as well. I know I switched many larger items from Fed Ex to UPS as a result.

Ground advantage replaced first class. The main difference is on the larger items they rolled parcel post and first class into one. There is still priority. ESE and pieces like that are stilll considered first class.
