Default So is it time to buy Acuna, Betts, (and Trout)?

Put some offers in now while the iron is hot? Or wait until the offseason?

Off season. And throw Soto in there too. There will be good deal to be found.

Boughta PSA 9 Trout Diamond Anniversary a few weeks ago .... thought i got a great deal....but then I saw 2 PSA 10's go for 3600 the last 2 nights!

Bought the PSA 10 2014 Betts Gold before the season.

Bought the PSA 10 Acuna Sapphire before this series began ;(

Shoulda waited on the Acuna.

I will share when I buy anything else.

Didn't think Acuna stuff could go much lower than it was but after that performance can easily see US250 PSA 10's hitting $25-$30. Only Rc of Acuna I have is the Heritage Action in a PSA 10 only because I think it's his nicest looking card.

Trout Update I wouldn't pay a dime over $650 for a 10 sooooo many out there even for Update. Definitely not as rare as I think people thought 5-7 years ago.

Soto on the other hand is an off season must buy.

For guys who were on postseason rosters, you will probably find the best deals 3-4 weeks after elimination through about mid January.

Trout has been in his offseason for two months, so we're pretty close to his market nadir. He'll probably stay there for months and you might be better off waiting for years, but between now and March he's got to be pretty close to as low as he'll get.

If you’re going to buy anything of any player, I would avoid base PSA 10’s. Too often a player’s market is gauged by the everyday stuff. I don’t think that the really desirable Acuna stuff will be available for anything approaching a bargain. The dude just put up a historic season, I don’t think anyone is forgetting that just because the Braves exited the playoffs early.

Great time to buy Soto though, agreed on that.

True but I'm not ever going to pay color auto prices of anybody. I enjoy just collecting base stuff with really great photos even though it's not worth much value wise. Trout's Update is just an iconic photo so I think that's part of the appeal that keeps his prices elevated.

Historic season. That's why I think it is better to buy right now with the sour postseason taste in sellers' minds than to wait a few weeks until people start talking about his historic season again when they award him the MVP.

Yeah, I’m hoping for some Ronny bargains from people who thought his value was wrapped up in winning the World Series, but not holding my breath. In the NBA market, it’s all about the rings, in the MLB, it’s all about stats and it always has been. My biggest factor in buying more Acuna is actually him cutting his K rate so dramatically. It shows a lot of promise for his career outlook.

I feel you, I don’t throw around a lot of money myself. Agreed, Trout’s Update has hit iconic status and that is unlikely to change. Jeter’s 1993 SP and Griffey’s 1989 UD will always be more valuable than their actual scarcity would suggest. Of course, they also have massive fan bases, so the key for Trout will be to get healthy, keep those counting stats accumulating, and retain his fan base.

Any chance the Sapphire PSA 10 gets to $1500?

That's a great point. Interested to see how it plays out. But man did the Braves lay an egg in this one. I think they were outhonered 11-3... ouch!

The baseball offseason is a long cold dark place. I have a feeling Trout will continue to drop. He's totally fine playing on the Angels. The hobby will pass him by.
