Default Which wax boxes are bricked?

I'm aware a lot of cards in the Topps 2001 wax boxes could be bricked (stuck together). What other years/products wax boxes are bricked by now?

I have a Murphy Stadium Club set still all sealed. I’ve often thought of selling it but I’m dreading any complaints from a buyer who opens it.

As a general rule, the more gloss, the more likely its bricked. Also could be some effects from high heat or humidity, or being stacked upon.

The shop I worked at ca. 1998-2004, a ton of 90s/early 2000s wax was brought in weekly almost exclusively for pack wars. Being an LA shop, it often focused on shaq and kobe rc stuff but also brought in products that were "cheap" by then and contained major star player rcs. These are boxes that I remember being VERY bricked, more often than not, by 2004:

NBA:

1992-93 Stadium Club
1992-93 Ultra
1995-96 Topps
1996-97 Skybox Premium
1996-97 Stadium Club
1996-97 Topps (the worst)
1996-97 Ultra
1997-98 Skybox Premium
1997-98 Ultra 1
1998-99 Topps
1999-00 Hoops

MLB:

2001 Topps Traded & Rookies
2001 Topps
2001 Bowman
1997 Ultra
1995 Topps Traded
1993 Upper Deck 2
1993 Pinnacle
1992 Bowman

NFL:

2001 Topps
2000 Upper Deck
2000 Topps
2000 Skybox Dominion
2000 Bowman
1999 Topps
1998 Ultra 1 & 2
1992 Bowman

UV-coated, glossy cards.

Base topps after like 1993, with a stretch of like 1995-2001 being particularly problematic.

Fleer Ultra
Score/Select
Stadium Club (probably)
Upper Deck starting somewhere in the early 90s, like 92 or 93
A lot of Marvel sets from the 90s like marvel masterpieces

Not really affected as far as I know- chromium cards, lenticulars, anything 80s or before, possibly 89-91ish UD is safe. Dont think I recall a box break of 89 UD bricked, and there are lots of ones out there to see.

If questioning a particular product, best to research breaks on youtube and see for yourself....see if concrete examples exist of product coming out bricked (yes there is probably a bias, someone might not bother to upload a vid of a bricked box, but if a product can brick, info online including youtube breaks should give a rough idea of that)

I bought some 1994 score a few years ago for nostalgia.. opening it was awful, every pack was terrible and the one per pack foil you had to hope it wasn't completely chipped off the card in front of it. I did 1994 finest and they were stuck but the cards weren't bad and escaped without any major conditions issues.

90's boxes I've opened that weren't bricked:
96 TC
99 E-X
98 Metal Universe

90's boxes I've opened that were bricked:
99 Fleer Brilliants
99 TC (not exactly bricked, but every card had a sticky film)

I opened a few 1992 stadium packs this year and they were fine, not sure how they were stored.

I also did a box of 1994 finest series 1. They were stuck… I could get them apart, but then they had some residue that had to be gently wiped off to prevent sticking again.

I got a couple of boxes of 2000 Topps from the National to build out a set I'd never finished way back when and had to peel most of them apart. No damage that I could really see - I'm sure a bit of gloss switched surfaces but it wasn't visible - but a relative pain in the arse to deal with for 800 cards or so.

Some of the worst bricking examples I've came across outside Marvel have been opening a factory set of 1995 and 1999 Topps Baseball. The term bricking is now vaguely used for any kind of sticking in packs, even minor......those were actual bricks. Like I could pull the whole thing out of the factory box as a single brick.

I'm guessing 1991 Classic Four Sport Draft Picks would be pretty bricked by this point, as well? I'm debating buying a box for nostalgia's sake, but am holding off for this very reason.

Not a ton of break video data on this set from a brief search. But of the couple videos that showed packs of it being opened, the cards seemed to have minor sticking, with most of the cards in the pack ok. But it shows that sticking is definitely possible with this set.

had one of those gold bar 96-97 topps sealed sets, sold it on ebay to someone who thought after spending almost a grand on a 25 year old sealed set, he was going to get all PSA 10s. yeah total brick

I second this. These stuck together in the 90s even and I'd bet they are mostly bricks today. Same with 1992 Classic stuff.

I ripped 10 2001 Bowman DP & Prospects sets that had been in my humidity controlled.basement for years. They were all bricked. A few 9s and the rest were 8s despite being in flawless condition otherwise. Just because you can't see the surface damage doesn't mean it's not there.
