Default Heisman Trophy 2023

With 1 regular season and conference championships left, who wins it and why?

The top 3 per Vegas odds are

Michael Penix Jr. QB Washington
Bo Nix QB Oregon
Jayden Daniels QB LSU

This last Saturday, Penix had a terrible individual performance against Oregon State in a morning game, Nix threw for 6TD's in one half in the afternoon game and then Daniels showed out with 6 passing TD's and 2 running TD's in the evening game. They know its a race.

Key Heisman dates for 2023

Monday, November 27: Heisman Ballots are distributed to electors.
Monday, Dec. 4: Deadline for Heisman ballots to be submitted.
Monday Dec. 4: The 2023 Heisman finalists announced.
Saturday, Dec. 9: The announcement of the 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner via the televised Heisman Ceremony on ESPN. (Private Event)
Sunday, Dec.10: The 89th Annual Heisman Dinner Gala.

The Heisman Trophy Trust will officially invite four finalists into New York City for the Heisman Trophy Weekend. (Three above and likely Marvin Harrison Jr. WR Ohio State)

The 2023 Heisman Trophy Winner will be announced during the televised Heisman Trophy Ceremony Presented by Nissan, that will air on Saturday, December 9 at 8 pm EST on ESPN.

Still undecided. Next 2 weeks are important. Penix and Nix have advantage of the extra game (if Oregon win Civil War). Daniels late surge probably not enough to beat out either of them. Harrison should get an invite, just continue scoring TD's the next 2 weeks

Looks like a 3-horse race. Could the PAC-12 title game Dec 01 2023, Washington vs Oregon, Penix vs Nix, decide the Heisman trophy? Did Jayden Daniels do enough his final game of the regular season?

Penix Jr.

Bo Nix

Jayden Daniels

I would say should be Daniels, but probably will go to Bo Nix if he balls out vs Washington.

how does Daniels get it after going 1-3 versus ranked teams?

i think it's Penix or Bo Nix, whoever wins or outduels the other in the Pac-12 title game.

3800 yards 40 TDs 4 INTs with 1300 rushing yards and 10 TDs. Nobody else is really close.

So now QB rushing stats matter

Louisville went 9-4 (including bowl game) when Lamar won. Team record is important, but not the end all be all. LSUs defense was a huge problem in these loses.

Hurts has less than 400 yards rushing. Daniels makes plays, Hurts runs 2 yards for a TD.

Because Daniels is the best player in college football this year?

Are you blaming Daniels for LSU's defense allowing 55 vs Ole Miss, 45 vs Florida State and 42 vs Alabama?

Vs Alabama, Daniels had 219 passing yards, 2 TD's, 160 rushing yards and a rushing TD.

Without Daniels LSU is like Miss State.

A win is as good as 10 rushing TDs.

For QBs.

They don’t count for other positions.

Penix couldn’t hack it in the Big 10.

Now he rolls in the little sisters of the poor conference.

To me it's Daniels in a landslide. All of the passing numbers are very similar but his 1,000 yard rushing season on top of the passing puts him in a different category.

The Heisman trophy isn't like the MVP in the NFL. It's for the most outstanding player, and what Daniels' has done far exceeds the other two. The Heisman shouldn't be about who plays on the better team, or who has the better defense when regarding quarterback play.

The Heisman Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

Not surprised they combined two poor conferences to create one giant poor conference

It should be Daniels, but a big game by Nix in the CCG would probably be enough to win it. I don't think Penix should be in the conversation.

Penix has two ZERO touchdown games. And it was Arizona and Arizona State.

Daniels has a single 1 touchdown game, but four games with 5+ scores (Penix had one).

Nix didn't have fewer than two scores in any game, but only had 5+ in two games.

Daniels overall has been the most dominant force. His defense continually let him down.

I hope Penix wins, no other basis besides he has a name that sounds funny and would consequently probably be the #1 pick to the Bears (I live in Bears country, so would be funny to hear all the time)

I see 3 "cupcakes" on their schedule in Grambling, Army and Georgia State that account for 17TDS with about 980 yards passing and 131 yards rushing total. A lot of that was against Georgia State in response to what Bo Nix did that weekend in the Heisman race.

Everyone else are normally tough teams within their conference. It's the SEC. The losses all came against currently ranked #5,#8 and #12. The ranked win against current #9. Other notable wins were against "Non-cupcakes" Auburn and Florida. The jury is out on Arkansas, Miss State and Texas A&M but I wouldn't call them cupcakes.

Looks like the extra game only hurt them.

i still go with Pennix over Bo Nix or the crazy stats of Daniels.

13-0, Pac-12 Championship and Pac-12 MVP

take him out of the equation, and no way Washington is where they are at right now.
