2018 Topps On-Demand Black & White 60 set break

I picked these up at $199.99 before the price got raised. With only 1,666 sets produced, and the floor being pretty high, I figured it would be fun to chase an Ohtani auto.

24 autos (supposed to be 1:2 sets), with a few triples and quadruples of guys like Rosario, Hays, Syndergaard and Yelich, so those could've been better.

The only Ohtani parallels I pulled were 3 Sepias /60.

I beat the odds and pulled 9 Ohtani/Trout. Only 166 of those.

I got a bunch of parallels numbered 1/ and 8/. We know Topps and collation can be weird like that.

I didn't pull a 1/1, but I also didn't look through the entire set, so if those were inserted randomly in the middle, I wouldn't have seen it.

Overall, tons to grade and an exciting rip!

I know it's not necessarily about the money, but just curious how you feel about the break after spending $12,000. I don't know much about the set, so do you think you did okay in terms of recouping $$ or was it Ohtani auto or bust?

I was selling PSA 10 base Ohtani from this set for $350-400 during the season. Prior to the $50 sale on eBay, the previous Ohtani/Trout cards were doing $300 raw. Having Acuna, Soto, Devers, Albies, and a bunch of great vet parallels will add up. I feel like this is one of the highest floor breaks out there for $200 per. It may take some time, but I should do very well.

What was the condition of the base Ohtani's? Will you submit most for grading? Picked up a few at a higher price and that is my main plan along with the Acuna's and Soto's.

It is unbelievable to me how the condition on the Topps Now stuff is amazing but everything they pack out to the masses is complete poop in regards to condition.

I am typically seeing about a 70% GEM Rate on the Topps Now type products from Topps so you should do very well!

Pretty decent autos really!

I know. It amazes me that BO had this many sets after supposedly selling out on Topps.com with a total of 1666 sets. Crazy.

This was only 5 years ago

Topps releases this and only 1660 were purchased and probably 660 by blowout. lol

If this set was released in 2021 probably 26000 would of been bought

IIRC, small runs/Topps Now/On Demand are printed/cut "in house" (no chrome) and the larger releases are outsourced to places like Cartimundi

Any reason to not open and grade? People don't seem to trust sets on the secondary market due to resealing.
