Default What do you do with your Zion cards?

My $5000 became $500. I am sure everyone is going through the same pain.

Surprisingly, he is playing almost every game this year and playing well when he plays. To me, it seems a little brutal that media never talks about him any more regardless how well he plays. I don’t know how he did in the all star game voting, but it looks like nobody considered him an all star player this year.

Do you guys think he will eventually regain some hype?

I told myself I would sell the next time he got healthy.

I sold and got what I could.

He’s had his chance for almost half a decade now - he’s toast

Zion needs to string together multiple years of good health and top performance to regain any of what he lost in the hobby.

Give up and buy a $500 Jordan. Or groceries.

Take what you can get and move on, try to invest that money in more promising "investments". He still has some upside but not much unless he strings together 4-5 years of top 5 stats. Embid went through the same thing minus the ridiculous hype that Zion had. We all have our Zion Horror stories.

The difference is that nobody ever questioned Embiid's work ethic. Nobody ever questioned whether he really wanted to play basketball or not.

Embiid just has injury problems.

Zion has never cared enough about being the best to even get into basketball shape coming into a season

He's not playing well. He has regressed and this season is his lowest stats season, so there's a reason why guys aren't talking about him anymore. For him to regain his hype, he needs to at least live up to his hype, something like 30 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 blocks on nightly basis.

agreed with all above comments ^^^^
Yet his career average is still putting up almost 25 a game. This season thus far has been a lackluster start and he seems completely disinterested at times especially on D. Perhaps a change of scenery will happen sooner than later.

I've kept some of them, I'm a fan of Zion and his game. I think there is some upside if he finds a dominant streak at the right time, which he is utterly capable of. If he dominates a team in a playoff series, they'll start to sell.

He is having a good year. 11th in PER, highest assists per game, lowest turnovers per game. We'd all like to see him be more aggressive scoring and rebounding the ball, but he is also trying to stay on the court.

He also takes a ridiculous amount of abuse for every action he takes and for being who he is. It's sort of surreal, what did he ever do to anyone?

I still think his upside is that of a top-5, top-10 guy. I realize it's unlikely he gets there, but I think he has a chance. He is just 23.

He needs to be committed to reaching his potential. Until collectors have confidence in that his cards will suffer. Empty stats fool people for a bit but at some point they wake up and move on.

It's weird that people keep saying this.

Good in relation to what? Good compared to the average NBA player? Sure?

He's having the worst season of his career, by far.

His on/off splits are awful. The Pels are 5.8 pts/100 better when he's off the floor. His defense and defensive effort are atrocious

Is that good?

He was a rookie at the wrong time, when everyone was pumping boatloads of cash into him due to the pandemic pump.

I don't know if it's his worst season but at least the worst one since his rookie year.

I think a lot of the issues are motivational. He hasn't had a top point guard since Lonzo and the team hasn't built around him properly. Those shouldn't be excuses, he should still be way better and try harder but that's the "upside" part in all of this.

At this point, if any team is in on Zion, they gotta go for it or stay out. This thing the Pels are doing is just gonna get them 6 games in the playoffs.

I was basically writing off his rookie season but yea, you're right.

I also think you're right that it's motivational and the market clearly agrees.

People saying he’s doing good means he’s averaging in the ballpark of 20 points/10 rebounds per game, at least that’s how I assess whether a player is doing “good” compared to his colleagues.

Is he doing good in terms of bring a first ballot hall of famer? Of course not.

I think even the biggest Zion haters will agree that he should be better and part of it is lack of effort.

I just don't get what the Pels end goal is. Make the playoffs, avoid the tax and make money? No end goal there, seems pretty Bulls-like.

If you are a small market team, you need to swing for the fences. Specially if you can't draft/build correctly. Get an elite PG and 3&D guys around Zion or trade him.
