Default Best pack/box for value

Hi all, money is tight but I have a dream of opening a pack/box that doesn’t break the bank, finding a card worth maybe $5-10+ and sending it in to get graded. Obviously doesn’t make sense to send a $2 card in to grade. Which pack/box/etc would you recommend? I know a lot of the pulls are just luck but where is a good place to start? Standard Panini Prizm or someplace else?

Thanks for the help!

For me, the most fun I've had watching breaks on YouTube has been with 2023 Pro Set Metal.

Potential for an auto from the top rookie QB's (not going to get that potential with Panini products), while being guaranteed a buyback auto from many notable names.

Based on your stated goal, you should stick to retail, ideally Prizm. You get to scratch the ripping itch for 30 bucks with the chance to pull those $5-10 cards that can then be graded.

I had no idea they did this until just a few days ago. No license? No problem. Just buy back your cards from 35'ish years ago and get 'em hard signed. Instantly better than most of what's on the market right now, unless you want to burn 4 figures on a hobby box. I already added an Emmitt and a Montana. If you were collecting back then, these are just about as good as it gets. Still shopping...

Joe Montana is football's version of Pete Rose.

Meanwhile my Topps Museum Joe Montana auto continues to increase in value.

Keep signing those stickers Joe!

Thanks for the help y’all! Looks like there’s a couple options. I have one other hypothetical for y’all- if you had $100-150 to spend on cards/boxes/packs what would you build if you want some variety? Perhaps split between panini prizm/select/contenders? Maybe Bowman Chrome?

Doesn’t need to be exactly $100 just curious the variety you might choose if you could build your own box. Money is a bit tight and I think this would be helpful for a birthday gift idea that combines quality cards that have the chance to hit with the fun of having variety. Thanks so much y’all this is really appreciated.

He’s usually adverse to anything with a logo on it.

As someone who in my eyes as a kid was the football equivalent to Michael Jordan,

I never thought it would turn out this way in having his autos be very plentiful and obtainable with a flooded market.

My boy is a big football fan so trying to get the best bang for my buck. There’s a lot of options and am a bit overwhelmed at the moment!

I like the Panini Prizm value packs for $15. Plus they can still be found in stores if you catch a recent restock. In the pack you are guaranteed a silver, a green Prizm, and three red white and blue Prizm cards. If you hit one of the QB rookies in those cards, you did well. Especially if you pull a silver Stroud.

Imagine if a Pro Set product ended up winning Product of the Year at the Blowies

This would probably be the transition year for it to happen.

Thank you! Yeah it’s tough cause it seems like you get what you pay for to a degree. If you get a different brand for cheap it usually means the odds of pulling anything good dwindle. Opening packs is fun but it kinda loses its appeal when you know there’s not going to be much in there. Seems like prizm is a decent option.

If you weren’t concerned with budget and only quality/value of card pulls then what product would you select?

Prizm is probably your best bet. Reminder that they are all bad bets though.
