Edd Roush has a lot of cut autos out there, but I wanted one for my Reds HOF collection. He was an interesting character. I sort of consider him the grandfather of free agency. In a time when players had very little power, several seasons he held out and refused to play to force negotiations with the team for better contacts.

Default April pickup thread

Mixed bag bittersweet mailday
I flipped an orange PSA 10 of this card for $140 I got on COMC for 60 bucks a few weeks so ago- so essentially a double up after various fees/shipping. Grabbed this one for $70 last week with the profit and was pretty pleased. While it was in transit I proudly shared the pickup with a friend via text and noticed the eBay title didn’t match the photo.
So although I’ve been doing this for almost 40 years I’m im guilty of one of the oldest rules in the game- buy the card and not the grade-whomp whomp. My fault for being a dumbass.

I collect solely based on eye appeal, so there’s an equal chance of seeing a $5 card or a $500 card

Beautiful Bonds, really hope Topps will use a similar image for Ohtani or Yordan in the finest flashbacks set this year.

Only things I've added is a couple 84 Donruss 9's and 10's for my set. Nothing worth posting photos of

I hope the Flashback set is awesome. I wasn’t a fan the 2023 one because the borders on the refractors were matte-looking and barely refracted light

I’ve been on a 97 Finest kick recently. Picked this up as well; unfortunately it has greening so I’ll be picking up another one

Here is a recent pick up. One of the more interesting T206 players paired with an uncommon back.

When I got back into collecting a few months ago, I just wanted to buy something to rip. Noting the hot rookies, the fact I've *never* ripped a chrome product, I landed on 2022 Topps Chrome Update, and picked up a case and just thought I'd have fun ripping it a little at a time.

This is well before I knew about the quality issues, sticker autos, redemptions, etc etc. Whooops. But, so far, it's been a blast, and I've done pretty well ...

A few decent autos, the Albies was today ...

Had my first experience with a redemption with the Harper, fulfilled and sent within 2-3 weeks. (J-Rod ain't too shabby either).

So today, Red Sox home opener on TV, I pulled out a few boxes to open for fun. And whew, struck gold ...

It'll make a nice companion piece for this which I recently just picked up ...
