Default Panini Gold Standard

A semi-official thread about all things Panini Gold Standard. Give opinions, discuss things like: Where does this rank among Panini product lines? What is distinctive about this product? How much difference in value does it make that it's on the thick sturdy (almost slab-like) stock? What are important/standout insert or parallel sets? Generally, what are things that newcomers to this product might like to know about it? (I'll give my own input in the replies/comments)

Product example:

This was my favorite set when I got back into cards again in 2015. Wish they would bring it back again. I know Opulence was considered to be a replacement but at that cost it was a fail! Miss the gold bar boxes too and the prime rookie patch autographs with the on card autos!

I really love this product because let's be honest everyone loves gold.
This Paul Pierce is numbered of /10 and is called the Platinum parallel and has a light blue hue to it

Can't speak for basketball, but in football Gold Standard has done a great job producing a few case hit inserts sets that are truly short printed, with no parallels.

The first year they did it, the cards were out of 5, making them impossible to find for top guys now.

Some of the cleanest cards outside of the big three NT, Flawless, and Immaculate.

Only Giannis on card RC autos

And Bullion Brand tags

Great product that got lost in the shuffle. I have no clue why this product wasn’t a top 5 product yearly. Actually I know exactly why…Panani has way too many products each year.

True RPAs are on card auto, /25s are nice 3 clr patches, and are player worn. Unlike the trash nowadays that say Not associated with etc etc.

Default Panini Gold Standard

With the solid design always and the added gold theme all one can say is the industry’s perception of what’s best or better leaves a lot to be desired!

Gold Standard was high quality and seriously legit!

Why did they stop gold standard? Seems like it was a better brand than a bunch of the products they still put out.

There are several Giannis on card RC autos. I believe this and Court Kings Draft Day are the only ones with his full signature. Not sure if you would count the Timeless Treasures as on-card.

Good call Looks like there are others out there:

His autos recently have been pretty disappointing...
