Default Wow! McDavid Cards Almost Halved in Price in 3 Months!

Even though the Oilers are in the Cup Finals and McDavid had another stellar season — both regular season and playoffs — his cards are down almost 50% across the board!

I sold a BGS 9 FWA /999 for $7,000 before Cup Finals — and a PSA 9 sold for $5,300 a few days ago!!!!

A BGS 10 UD Ice Premieres McDavid rc /99 sold for $14,500 in March, 2024 — and a BGS 10 of that same card (different serial #) just ended for $7,900!!!!

Wowwwwwww

Great time to buy! I know that’s what I’m gonna do!

His stuff is still riding the over inflated pandemic high. It will continue to come back to reality. He's a generational talent, but he hasn't won a Cup, and he'll need one at some point in his career.

Again, he's an amazing player, but there's no justification based in any level of reality for his stuff to be 3x Matthews or 5x MacKinnon

I can't imagine why a card sold for more when people thought McDavid was getting his first cup vs about to be swept in Cup Finals.

This is like saying Josh Allen cards halved in price in three months when they dip when he gets eliminated from the playoffs to inevitably go back up when he makes them again next year.

This thread is kind of wild to me lol comparing pre-playoffs when many had Edmonton as a favorite to "a few days ago" when the Oilers are about to be swept lol

It also is cherry picking top tier and rare cards. Those are always the most vulnerable to performance swings ala NT RPA /99.

The mid tier stuff that is more common like YG 10s are having recent sales a fraction lower than they were 3 mons ago (2350~ to ~2500) and with a sweep likely go back to their almost 2k levels.

There are baseball Blowout members that would vilify you if you stated the facts of the player who has yet to win a playoff game with that opinion.

This is the biggest moment of his career and he has no goals in the Stanley Cup Final.

Didn’t you just lose like 7 grand on an Oveckskin invest in the future card?

The best time to buy cards is when people don't post it is a "Great time to buy!"

No kidding. They’re still humping Mike Trout’s leg when he’s never won a thing in MLB and always hurt.

Fish Boy ain't no Willie Mays.

McDavid ain't no Wayne Gretzky.

Keep overpaying for the next best thing while the best thing sits right in front of you, for less

McDavid is phenomenal.

He’s not Gretzky, Lemieux or even Crosby yet.

McD could end up with 2000 career points, #2 all time, and not have a ring. What would the hobby think of that?

If rings are the only category, then he'd be this generation's Dan Marino...

He's still a generational talent, him and Matthews will have the most hobby love in between the Ovi/Sid generation and those now in the Bedard generation.

A number of all time greats don't win Cups on their first try (Gretzky, Yzerman, Crosby, etc) I'm just not sure if Edmonton gets back without making some significant tweaks.

I know Ovi value and collectability has gone down, I was offered a trade recently for A.Matthew and MAF for an Ovi SPx auto. I declined because I could buy a cheap Ovi auto.

McDavid needs another HOF blue liner and a goalie.

Not to side track the thread, but after seeing videos/pictures of Ovi this offseason, I'm not even sure the goal record is gonna happen (he's gotten BIG!!!)...

I wish Edmonton had gone harder at Erik Karlson last year and there aren't any free agent goalies that get me hot and bothered this year (Samsonov, maybe?)

Many personal accolades, just zero team success. That's really an Angels problem particularly proven having two players in their prime who could be considered All-Time Greats. But yeah, McDavid isn't going to the same levels unless he wins a few Cups.
