Your thoughts on Yankees sensation Ben Rice?

The kid hit 3 home runs today for the Yankees, but I never heard of him before today. A quick check shows that he has no regular issued cards but a topps now card. I think too late for a topps update card but maybe the card to chase in 2025 Topps series one? Your thoughts?

He will 100% not be in ‘24 Update.

I'm a Red Sox fan so not too happy about what he did today. But he's also a New England guy so I'm rooting for him to succeed. I think he was #12 prospect in Yankee system this year and he's 25 but he also has been a consistent 1.000 ops guy in the minors so maybe he'll be a good MLB hitter. But I agree it will be hard to have hobby relevance with Judge and Soto on the team for now.

Member back in April of 2021 where another old rookie took the league by storm, he had his rookie autos go from the dollar box to $150+ in a matter of weeks. That late blooming superstar's name...Yermin Mercedes.

Don't care that he plays for the Yankees I'm not touching this guy.

I only asked this question because I never heard of this guy until today. Not too many people come out of no where and hit three home runs in a day for the Yankees. But yes Kevin Maas and Shane Spencer are great comparisons!

I don't think Ben Rice will be a star, but this "he's 25 so no chance" is the same argument that started the Aaron Judge thread on here. As a general rule of thumb, sure. If that's your only argument, you aren't contributing anything by parroting it. People lose heaps "investing" in 18-year old prospects every day, as well.
