Got 8 cards in Card Saver 1's and penny sleeves. In the past, I had put painters tape on the card saver to prevent the card from slipping out, but I see PSA discourages that and says put cardboard and rubber bands around it. That doesn't worry someone the card would slip out? I've got a couple of pretty thin cards that I'm sending in (example - Bazooka Comic LeBron RC). Still no painters tape?
And if I go the route of cardboard and rubber band, do I do that individually for each card eight times, then put them in a 300 ct box with packaging materials around it, or put the 8 cards together as one and one cardboard and rubberband? |

No, I don't worry about cards slipping out, that's the whole point of using a Card Saver. Unlike a toploader, cards don't move around much in a Card Saver. And if you are using a penny sleeve, there should be even less odds of movement.
No, don't put cardboard around each individual Card Saver. Put it around the entire stack. I usually use a graded card bag and put the Card Savers in that before putting cardboard around the stack. Should be able to easily put 8 Card Savers in one graded card bag. |

I usually don't use sleeves with card savers.
Cards certainly can move in card savers. Ebay authentication for raw cards showed us that. Couple old photos I have, how I usually pack cards for grading. These were likely going to PSA via PC Sportscards, but numbering the stacks seems like a good idea regardless. ![]()

The rubber bands apply gentle enough pressure to the packet to keep the cards from moving around. |

Try using smaller card saver 2s. Also, different brands seem to have varying levels of grippiness, which could make the difference for you.

Here's a tip I've always done:
For standard sized sports cards, I don't like using standard sized penny sleeves because I have in the past nicked a bottom corner when inserting into the penny sleeves. So instead, I use penny sleeves made for thick cards, like these: ![]() These penny sleeves are wider, and I no longer have any anxiety of possibly nicking a bottom corner when slipping cards into the penny sleeves. Then I insert these into card savers, with a cardboard sandwich around the lot.
