Default Kareem "But I want a statue...whaa whaa"

Big baby, quit crying. Yea, you are recognized as one of the greatest to play the game, that doesn't come with a list of memorials that WILL be erected in your name.

Yeah, you're right. Its not that he doesn't deserve a statue, because he definitely does. But the fact that he has to go around begging for one and whining about the fact that he doesn't have one is pretty sad.

Bill Russell didn't get a statue for like 40 Years after he retired. Having a statue outside the arena you played In is an honor, you don't ask for it you either wait or go about your biz

Kareem is known as a rather unlikeable character. Bill Simmons hates him. Not saying we should all agree with Bill Simmons, but he has his reasons.

Kareem is regarded by most as a top five player of all-time. However, that doesn't automatically make him worthy of a statue. After all, he didn't transcend the game like Magic Johnson and Kobe did in LA.

And great point made above about Bill Russell. Nobody heard him moaning. In fact, when it was announced that they are going to erect a statue of him in Boston, he said he felt uncomfortable with such an honour.

that's the diff between being a diva playing for L.A. and then being a player of character as a Celtic

He should go ask University of Florida for one - they like to hand out statues and plaques like it's going out of style. They might just give him one for S&G's

This is because of Bill Russell 99% he has NEVER been one to search or want personal praise. This made his the best team sport player in the history of sports

from what i understand, bill russell's relationship with the celtics deteriorated for many years before they were able to patch things up. i'm sure that had something to do with it.

kaj probably shouldn't have said it the way he did as it makes him look petty and self absorbed, but i can see where he's coming from. first of all, he was likely answering a question about it rather than just coming out and talking about it out of nowhere by himself. also, it's not as if he's been talking and complaining about this for many years. doesn't he have leukemia? he's well past 60 years old. they say they'll build one for him but maybe he's thinking "man is it gonna matter if i'm not even around for it?". Magic is over 10 years younger than him and he has one already, so he's probably wondering wtf?
