Overreactions- top players to buy and dump after week 1

Hey y’all, as the title suggests who would y’all rush to buy and to dump after just week 1?

I’ll start- seems like a buy would be Xavier Worthy and a dump would be Deshaun Watson. I know things like Market Movers tracks card prices but curious what some of your week 1 overreactions would be.

If you haven't dumped Deshaun Watson then you're about 3 years behind the game... this week didn't matter.

As for Worthy.... What's there to buy? If the answer if Bowman Chrome U or Leaf, then probably time to dump that too.

I don’t own any Deshaun Watson but I think you missed the point of the thread. It’s to discuss opinion and big shifts on players cards from immediately before the season to after week 1 based on performance and/or current events. Not a big Bowman fan but from what I can see some Xavier Worthy cards have jumped a bit, likely from excitement following his week 1 performance, being the curiosity of the thread.

According to Topps, Caleb and Jayden had historical days!

Caleb won (well, the Titans lost).

Jayden ran for 2 tds (because he couldn’t pass).

Classic Bears win, despite the offenses best efforts to lose the game the defense pulled out a victory. Caleb Williams undefeated though…lol. Jayden at least surpassed 100 yards in the air!

Not sure any player is worth buying after week one. If you had Watson you should have dumped that long ago. Worthy has no pro cards of note so holding Bowman U of him seems… unwise. Plus, he’s a receiver.

Darnold has a chance to raise his stock this week I guess, but most are decided on him.

Everyone else was (Denny Green voice) who we thought they were.

So back to my point, selling Worthy now before NFL stuff comes out is probably a decent move. Since it's already moved up, the window to buy has likely passed.... or at least is closing.

Dang, yeah you’re right about that. It seems like by the time nfl stuff comes out the cat will be out of the bag. I had a great chance to get some Xavier Worthy leaf stuff a few months back but was too proud with it being unlicensed. In hindsight my financials would beg to differ that I should’ve scooped it.

Another one that “may” be a time to buy is Jordan Love with the injury. I know they’re saying out 3-6 weeks but if it’s more serious or if the packers go 0-4 I wonder if some of his stuff will drop a lot. I know Packers fans are pretty loyal though but it seems with cards at least sometimes it’s out of sight out of mind and the prices reflect that. Unfortunately I don’t know for sure but it’s interesting to speculate!

Purchased an XR /15 PSA 9/10 and a Contenders Rookie Auto /25 SGC 9/10 as a bundle for $175 sometime back.

Last I checked the Contenders is approaching $600 by itself.
