All,
I just bought a small collection and there are a few "color" errors. I would best describe them as a color shift or offset. I don't collect a ton of vintage and I was just wondering if there is a market for these. Yes, I looked on eBay but I don't know the terminology well enough to know exactly what to search for. No huge names were found with these and condition is so-so: 1962 - Claude Osteen and Lou Clinton 1965 - Don Mincher 1966 - Wayne Causey I appreciate any help!

There are some examples in the vintage pickup thread. Horrendous registration and miscuts are more collectible. In a weird way, the worse the better. Value is based on who the player is more than anything else. Pics would help.

The people that collect these, don't pay more than commons typically. It is a fun thing for people to collect, but the value is not much. There are some cards that do have some value, but they tend to be very specific printing errors. The No Name 1990 Topps Cards and 1982 Topps Blackless cards missing autos are two examples where a printing error could be worth money.

Generally, what you're talking about is when the sheets were fed through the four color printing presses mis-aligned. We usually call that "poor registration" and sometimes it just makes the image look out-of-focus.
Here's a cool thread showing many post-war variations, including many registration issues. https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=187722 My favorite that I own is a Honus Wagner from Leaf that is way off. This one is not mine, but looks like it: ![]() |
