Default Potentially Massive Vintage Gold Mine Lot Find (Real-Life Edition)

Since you folks were teased with the previous fake, trolling post, I thought I'd start a thread with an ACTUAL treasure hunt I'm undertaking starting tomorrow.

I own a card store in Cullman, Alabama, and there is a guy who pops in from time to time known as the "Bottle Man," who is a big-time local antiquer/picker who dabbles in cards, too. Lately, he has been selling me some pretty good stuff, including factory sets of 1989 Upper Deck baseball and 1989 Score football, some random 70s football singles, 80s wax, vintage Alabama football programs, etc.

Last week, he finally gave up the ghost -- there is a house in a town about 90 minutes away full of millions of sports cards and other collectibles that he has been buying lots out of it for the past few months. Evidently, the owner of the house died in May and his ex-wife and aunt have been trying to clean it out. Now, there is a bit of urgency in that they have to sell the house or risk foreclosure by the bank. Now, if you are like me, you must question whether it has been picked clean of all of the good stuff. Bottle Man and the aunt assure me that much of it is unsearched as you can't even get to all of the cards due to the tremendous stacks in the garage and basement. (Yes, I have heard that some cards have been ruined due to moisture.)

They are getting desperate to clean out the house, and I became the best candidate to buy it all. I've heard some great cards have been pulled out, including 50s Mays and Aarons, and Bottle Man showed me a 87 Fleer Jordan he got. He said there are Pokemon cards still there, and Garbage Pail Kids cards in a barn (yes, there is a barn in this story, too, lol). No clue what exactly I'm walking into tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll come back with great stories, and hopefully photos!

Damn, I need to sell my sh*t or have some really detailed direction. Imagine putting together a collection that took a lifetime to gather and your Aunt is selling it to a guy named Bottle Man and the LCS.

That’s why I’m selling my sh*t myself before I die. No one else would (or should be expected to) put the kind of time, care, and attention into it that I would.

Ha, yeah, hopefully this doesn’t result in a real-life “Wrong Turn” or “Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” I actually heard that the house is fairly run down and dirty, which makes one wonder if it’s worth selling.

I mean, doesn’t everyone collect 1950s Mantles & Pokemon at the same time?

Cards in a barn, in Alabama. What could go wrong?
