Default Sketch Card news & rumors

Rather than start multiple new threads, I thought I would create a micro-blog of Sketch Card news & rumors.

Make sure I understand what this artist said ...
Finding Unicorn sent him card stock but never re-collected it.
Thus, he has decided to simply sell it himself?

What are the remaining Upper Deck Marvel sets that may (or may not) get a full release (including ePack) before they lose their license?

• Marvel Masterpiece Monsters
• Fleer Ultra Matriarchs
• Annual 2024
• Beginnings Vol 2, Series 2
• Allegiance Infinity Trilogy
• Premier 2024
• Marvel E-X
• Women of Marvel

What else was "in production" but may not make it to release?

Monsters, Annual, Beginnings and Infinity Trilogy are all out on the market already.

Matriarchs is now pegged for December per teasers posted recently.

Wonderful; thanks!
I'm also seeing these as options:

• 2024 Marvel Renditions Spider-Man
• Topps Finest X-Men '97 Q1 2025
• Marvel Studios Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 October 30
• Marvel Allegiance: Secret Wars December 4
• Marvel Studios' Series 2 Cinematic December 18
• Marvel Studios Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania December 27?

I'm not sure which (if any) will have sketch cards.
It's good to speculate. Thanks!

Okay, I checked-in with artists & collectors.
The Marvel sets in red have confirmed sketch cards.
(They may never get released, but they were printed).

Matriarchs is on the calendar for December 11.
Infinity Trilogy was released last week.

Marvel Metal Rogues Gallery had cards printed as well. An artist was selling AP commissions. He stated cards would have to be approved, which is fine, but would they approve cards for a set they know is not coming out?

Here's a look at Kakawow Diverse sketch cards side-by-side.
Even though the color palate is similar, I assume these are all different Artists.

I have a couple of the Minions cards on the way and was going to update this thread with it when they arrived. You beat me to it!

I also have one from a Chinese company called Ruihu who is producing a set called, depending on who I ask, "Space" or "Space Exploration". I'll try to get a pic of the back as time allows.

@cmixer, are there sets for which you are missing pics of the backs? I know there are new sets all the time, but for like 5finity or some of the smaller producers like Braiiinz, Mew Studio, Sly Studio, and so on?

Certainly, feel free to share anything you want. This is a public discussion.
This is one sample of every sketch card set I already own:

I'm sharing other pics here until I secure one for my personal collection.

For years, sketch card manufacturers would contract sketch card artists one-at-a-time.
The problem is that means 100 different contracts, 100 different packages mailed out, and 100 different packages to receive back.
It's become a whole lot easier to contract "Art Houses."
You mail one package with 500 blank sketch cards to a Studio where multiple artists work; then the company gets one package back with 500 finished cards. The Studio decided how to break up the work among their artists.

Using this model, a sketch card company only needs to make three or four contracts to finish a set.

The downside is:
(#01.) You lose those top-tier Artist names we used to collect.
(#02.) The art is a crap-shoot. Among the 500 cards you will have 20% mind-blowing, but have to accept 20% bottom-tier.
(#03.) Many of these Art Houses are overseas. These Artists might not have Social Media or attend local (U.S.) Conventions.

Is this trend acceptable if it means lower costs, and quicker production times?

If you want to see what I man, look at the top three Artists listed here:

I get the economics of it, but as long as there is an accurate checklist, it doesn't bother me. No set has 100% "great" sketches in it anyway. Look at it this way--those studios are likely to include some artists that the companies would not otherwise know about or contract with.

Not to be a headache, but is there a listing of these cards by any chance? It is fantastic that you have the backs scanned, but a text listing where I can Cntl-F and see if you are missing a scan? It may be something easy in GoogleDocs that I just am not aware of.
