I could imagine that thing going for 150k-200k in the middle of spring training or opening day If he throws a shutout or something.

I would sell the card and use $4k of proceeds on a really nice Skenes card. I don’t need Pirates season tickets since I don’t live anywhere near the stadium.

I’m not a Pirates fan so, I’ll pretend the offer is for the Reds and you want the Elly patch card. Define behind home plate and season tickets. Are we talking full 81 game season tickets? Are we talking, in the case of the Reds, diamond seats where an 81 game season ticket is $20000? Scout seats @ $6000k or something higher up? Do I have the right to sell the tickets? What happens if the Reds leave Cincinnati or worse, fold? There’s not enough info in the original post to make an informed decision.

That’s what makes the offer so weird. Say the person who pulls the card lives in Montana, what’s he going to do with 30 years of Pirates season tickets?

If I were a die hard Pirates fan, I'd have to put in some contractual language allowing me to receive a % of the funds they don't spend on payroll if I'm going to sit behind the plate for 30 years and continuously watch them be mediocre for the purposes of making profit.

Yes, the official Pirates are making this offer. They say they want to "Give back to the fans by having the card on display".

The season tickets are 8K. So 30 x 8K =240K. If the Pirates were willing to give the cash value, then yes I would take the offer. What are the Pirates going to do if the person with the card doesn't live close to Pittsburgh?
