Figured it would be easier to just make a new thread.
A new shortstop FA is on the market that I think Atlanta should look at. Call it righting a wrong, they should sign Shewmake back and cut Arcia. |

Baseball is better with a healthy Ronny! Hoping for a solid healthy year for him!

Minter is just a dude
And I want to see Acuna hit hit hit. 37 HR and a .322 average should suffice |

I agree. I meant "dude" in a good way. In MLB lingo a "dude" is a solid big leaguer

I know there's still a lot of time, but on paper, this team has not gotten better this off-season. |

I'm bummed overall about the offseason as there hasn't been one signing to get excited about. OTOH, Acuna, Albies, Harris, Olson, Riley, and Strider provided about a third of the WAR (eyeballing it) they did in 2023 and there is reason to be optimistic about all of them. OTOH again, they needed to do something and the barrel is getting very empty as we get to the bottom and most of what's left doesn't really fit outside of a few pitchers (I'm hoping for Flaherty I guess).

AA last fall "payroll will go up"
.... Surely we're not done? Nobody hates a leaky pen more than AA - and this pen needs help. |

I'm cautiously optimistic but it's all riding on a lot of players getting back to their 2023 form. It's a bit too much like a football parley where you pick a bunch of favorites but one or two will always screw up. I'd have really liked them to snag a veteran starter. Shortstop is a bummer but Adames was the only decent option and that contract was prohibitive. I really like the Profar signing as I was worried they were content with a Kelenic/De La Cruz platoon being the plan for most of the year. In a vacuum, everything lools decent. The problem is the additions of the Mets in our own division and Dodgers in the NL make it a bit tough to be satisfied with the offseason even if every transaction, or avoided transaction, makes decent sense.

Sounds like they are planning on rolling with Profar as the lead off guy until Ronnie is ready to go. Career 10% walk rate, 16% k rate. Doesn't seem like a bad choice.

Will miss the first couple weeks of the season. To go along with Ronald and Strider. Start the clock on Drake Baldwin. |

Acuna I think will do fine but less running means fantasy numbers might be down. That said I have little confidence that Strider returns to anywhere near what he was pre-injury and I can see him struggling with the long ball. 2026 should be rebound years for both but 2025 I'm in the " What have you done for me lately " group.

Riley avoided a serious injury on the HBP.
Team's going for a spring training record for wrist injuries. |
