Exclamation Cowboys OL Zack Martin to retire after 11 seasons in NFL

Smart move. I don't think he smells a SB in Dallas anytime soon.

Cowboys OL Zack Martin to retire after 11 NFL seasons (source.)

"He retires tied with Randall McDaniel and John Hannah for the most first-team All-Pro selections earned by a guard in NFL history..."

Next stop HOF? No doubt.
  • 9x Pro Bowl
  • 7x All-Pro
  • HOF All-2010s Team

We don't need a thread for every single minor headline (or rumor) you read on ESPN... we all know where espn.com is.

Maybe 0.X% of people here collect offensive lineman card in any significant amount.

There is an offseason thread.

You very well may be one of the most negative and stupid people I’ve ever encountered on here.

I don’t think you understand how BO works. You have to have at least 5 threads on any subject.

What will this announcement do for his card prices?

And is he first ballot or second or third ballot? I need to know before I send a batch of his rookies to PSA

11 year player , 9 years that he was healthy to play a season he was an All Pro , not just pro bowler but an All Pro ..only called for holding 7 times in his career and only 8 false starts EVER! Very good thread for a deserving player and lot better thread than the usual trash that litters the front page of the football section

I don't see a problem starting a thread celebrating a HOF player's career. I am not a Cowboys fan at all, but I can still appreciate the kind of player Martin was. His cards will receive a small bump when he gets inducted. Believe or not, some of these HOF Olineman rookies are sneaky good cards. They don't typically get 100's made. Nothing past rookie season. Often only find them in a handful of sets.

First Ballot HOFer retiring seems thread worthy to me. Stellar career, even if it was with the Cowboys.

I'm one of those people. He's absolutely worthy of discussion despite your opinion to the contrary.

So jog onto another thread.

If there's only one person who does, it's worthwhile.

If there are no people who do...jesus, who gives a s***. It's a football message board.

Tip of the cap to a player from a division rival of my hometown team.

The biggest compliment you can give a guard is that you hardly ever heard his name, except for when it came to the pro-bowl and first-team all-pro selections.

I saw those stats on another site and the first thing I thought of was Larry Fitz and his having more tackles than drops in his career. These are just ridiculous feats over an entire career for both of them.

Put my hobby money on Jake Matthews instead of Zack Martin. Oh well, live and learn, right?

I thought when Dallas started drafting offensive line we were heading in the right direction. It’s crazy to think that Zack Martin and Tyron Smith will both be in the hall of fame and if Travis Frederick had been able to keep playing he would have been in as well. That’s three hall of fame offensive lineman playing together. People talk about Emmitt’s line but he only has one hall of famer Larry Allen who came in 1994 after Emmitt already had 3 straight rushing titles.
Too bad Martin never had an elite quarterback to protect. I don’t blame him for wanting to get out of there.
