Default 2024 Star Wars Masterwork

Looks like this is releasing April 16th.
Anyone grab a pre-order?
Looks pretty standard, with what it sells for on the secondary market their formula seems to work pretty well. Breakers will eat it up no doubt.

I used to budget for at least a case of Masterwork but I am getting sick of getting cards where half the set are characters I care and know almost nothing about.

Though I do have to say I like the base design.

You're not excited to open a Lok Durd auto for $600?

Product was ok when it was 200 a box from 2012-2020

Could not imagine opening a box for 600

Majority of boxes will be 500 dollar lose

Price go up, quality go down, sounds like every other product since COVID. Sucks, I went nuts with this product during the first release. Probably opened two cases worth since nobody at my LCS cared about non-sports or Star Wars.

How much were those boxes that first year? 100 or 120'ish? I do remember the scoffing by people about it being WAY too much, lol. Now, you've got to burn $3k for a box that might yield quality even close to that first Masterwork release.

I know 11 years is a long time but I thought I would offer up a flashback to the original (aka…The good old days)

https://www.blowoutforums.com/showth...ght=Masterwork

2 years later (2016 release) the case cost was 1300.00 with a $35 spot price in Ian’s breaks.

I remember when this first came out and buying multiple cases and getting a lot back in resale value.

Now this task is impossible. I have not bought any wax in about 3 years and can't see it happening anytime soon.

The biggest difference at the beginning was the actual masterworks

Lots of great sketches per case.

Now quality is less and quantity is less for sketches

You get stamps and relics

600 is an insult. But breakers will break it

LOL, yeah, I was off by 100. 200-220 was way closer to what it was if you shopped around. The sketches were amazing, too.

I got them for $175 a box since the store wanted them gone. I remember buying tons of Fleer Retro Marvel, Marvel Premier, Masterworks, and other non-sports for close to store cost because the owner ordered them so he could get other products, and I was the only non-sports collector that came in.

I remember 2012 Marvel Premier didn't even sell out at distribution by the time it was outside their UD contract limitations or they had marked it WAY down, however it worked back then... and I got a case at cost. Good times for sure.

Not just Premier...ALOT of the supposed high end didnt sell out....at a time where production run in general was also alot lower (not Premier though I guess)
2016 Marvel Gems was at one stage on clearance for $70 or so a box....

Source on this or joking? The last 2 MW were $279. I don't think that the Big 3 would even presale at that kind of hike.

I'm thinking $319 on Topps and 42 available to buy on release day.

The signers list will look great just like star wars chrome black. Topps has figured out if you just add a few of each big name signers and thousands of the fodder people will buy. Leaf so much better providing autograph amounts on their checklists.

if you've been watching what the "big 3" have been doing manipulating the market you would know they will be at least 600, disgusting.
