Default Do you have a cap on the number of slabs you own?

Having just donated 50k cards (junk wax and modern commons) it got me to curating my collection. Moving forward I will be holding slabbed cards (number grade, authentic, ITG slabs, etc). If it's not worth slabbing it's out of my collection. Just my way of keeping the cards from taking over.

I ordered 2 Card Capsule Pro cases. My collection will always fit in my two cases. If they are full, and I want to add another card, I will pick one to get rid of (i.e. sell). Kinda like the food fishery; limit of 5 can you catch a 6th? Throw the smallest one back.

Anyone else have any way of limiting your collection? If so, how?

Cheers!

Graded card two row boxes x4. If I have more slabs on hand than what fits into 4 boxes, I have way too many cards on hand and need to liquidate.

Raw cards, two 3 row monster boxes. Nothing more. Supplies + cards fit into one set of cabinets.

Yeah, kinda of a cap, not absolute, but it's limited to this main feature: Hall of Famers (Baseball, Football, Basketball).

Within that feature, I collect:

1/1 or other low S/N.
Auto.
Game-Used mem.
High-Grade condition, like a Gem Mint 10, as much as possible, unless its a pre-war or post-war vintage, then condition is not as important.
Some other feature that brings it value, like a RC, or a significant error, or a particular manufacturer brand.

I collect them in order to slab and grade them, unless a highly valued and unique card can not be slabbed for some reason (a custom 1/1 for example), in which case, they would just go into a magnetic one-touch case.

Also, within that main feature, I especially collect one favorite player from each of the three sports I mentioned.

That's how I try to limit what I want to grade and slab, rather than just grading anything and everything.

I'm in a similar situation as you. I have a dedicated case for slabs that holds 52 total and I've filled it over the course of a year. Recently, I've been upgrading cards in my case which forces me to sell slabs that don't fit the collection anymore. I'm pretty much at the end of "completing" the collection though so only one high dollar card is left on my list to get. Whole collection has a cohesive flow and feel to it as you're going through it. Setting a hard cap on the number I can reasonably store/afford has been a blessing actually.

Choosing an amount of space, such as cases/2 rows, that's a good idea that I may try. I have bought tons of cards/collections, large and small, with the intent to sell to reinvest into what I PC.
It hasn't quite worked out that way. I have accumulated so much stuff, and there's some great stuff that I often forget about unless I flip through a box, but at this point it's just too much and I'd love to move it all.

Just keep buying more storage cases/boxes.... no more space limitations haha.

Seriously though, I've done some consigning to try and get the PC down and a little more manageable.

Under 100. I got tired of the clutter and all the boxes of cards I couldn't care less about.

It's really satisfying to move tens of thousands of base, commons and low-end inserts to free up space and buy a nicer PC card with the money.
