Default first class question

I don't ship a ton anymore but I had to use ground advantage today because the guy at the post office told me my package was too thick for first class - It was one card in a toploader and 2 decoys as well as a team bad and additional bubble wrap...kinda of surprised - when did this change?

Is the post office just strict in the store and more lenient if you send it first class with a label and it is too thick...?

Anything over 1/4 inch thick is supposed to go Ground Advantage. I assume your additions on top of the top loader made it too thick. What type of envelope did you put it all in?

I am guessing this was also in a Bubble Mailer. So under the old rules before Ground Advantage If your item was less than a quarter inch thick then it was shipped priority per the rules which yes didnt make sense.

Now actually global advantage is much better than FC was as the item also gets free insurance and tracking. FC also to a USPS may be something you are shipping at $1.

Well FC bubble mailer went to like 1-4 ounces , 5-8 and so on for one price and creeped up to over $3.50 for 1-4 and on a one ounce item I just print a label for 4 ounces since it was same price. Also The old FC was on the 1-4 ounce anywhere used to be the same price across the country until they made it zones like Priority.

I've used Card Saver IIs for single cards and Card Saver Is for two cards in 6-3/4 envelopes with no issue. I'm a Store subscriber and use the eBay Thank You cards folded around the Card Saver but a piece of paper would do the same thing, a little extra protection. Press all the air out of the Card Saver, put a piece of masking tape across the top, press against the opening so the card doesn't slide into the tape.
